lidl have reduced their 1kg greek yogurt this week to £1.70 for a kg so i got my thinking cap on. i know ice cream. took the cap of the plastic tub added sweetner chopped strawberrys and grated a little 85% cooking chocolate and mixed in the tub. put cap back on and put it in the freezer. result creamy like hagan dazs tastes like hagen daz and the kids love it. might try adding a shot or 2 of baileys.(not for the kids they need vodka  )

Tescos have diabetic ice cream in.

I asked about it a few weeks ago and its in now :0)
They're also putting in sugar free jam :)

When shopping in Tesco I find they are stocking more and more diabetic items and the icecream is great. Kellys is manufacterer - and not a bad price either.

Diabetic Ice-Cream?? Gosh, I wish I'd read this post before I had my rant on the Soapbox the other day, lol. Foxglove and Janieb, please tell me:

What does it taste like?
How does it affect your BG levels?
What's it called?

I'll have to look out for it in Tesco's. These days I just go and buy exactly what I need rather than browsing up and down the aisles, that way I don't have to look at all the items I can't eat anymore! So I haven't been down the ice-cream aisle in a long time.

Thanks

i looked at the ice cream that was in tesco s but was put off by the carb content which was the same as normal ice cream. anyone tested on this?

I suppose that they can put a label saying diabetic on anything really but at the end of the day it really is the carb content which is the issue. I think it is better to just have a tiny bit of something really good once in a blue moon and savour it very, very slowly! 8) :D

I recommend 'Cream O'Galloway' ice cream - it is how ice cream should be and is made with top notch ingredients, much of it organic and carefully selected and mixed into creamy milk produced on their Galloway organic farm. Beautiful and a fun place to go to as well! :D

Diabetic Ice-Cream??

What is the criteria for calling a foodstuff "diabetic"? Ive just bought some Franks Diabetic Vanilla Ice Cream from Tesco and it has 17.5g of carbs per 100g. There own brand Raspberry Ripple has 24g per 100g. Is 6.5g such an improvement?

Ive just weighed an average scoop (purly in the interests of research) and it tripped the scales at 42g so thats 7.35g carbs, not bad on a hot afternoon, but in future I think I may follow Synonym's advice and go for an occational scoop of Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry's.

You can easily make great lo-carb ice cream (if that works for you). I've made mr- whippy style icecream using just cream and water, a few drops of vanilla essence, and some sweetener. Lovely stuff.
