If in doubt about getting a pump....

Your phone story made me think about insurance. Unless it's different in Ireland, the user is usually not covered for loss or damage to the pump, so they encourage us to insure. As a firefighter would you be able to get insurance? If you have to replace the pump they are around £2000 I think.

Good point Spiker....

As for sets in high humidity. I can only say that my body will sweat alot during summer whilst doing my gardening. And the sets have become detached when in my stomach... Never whilst stuck into bum...

In the UK (Northern Ireland included) you have to insure the pump in case of damage (usually on the household contents insurance). The DSN supplies you with a letter for the insurance company to explain that you will have it on you all the time etc.
Not sure if this applies to down south though.
