Butchers Selection 4 quarter pounders beef burgers. If you like a nice juicy meaty burger, then these are for you. I have these with shredded lettuce/carrot mix, a blob of yoghurt sauce on the side, fried onions on top and a squirt of lemon on top of the burger. Almost like a Shammy Kebab but without the spice. If you want to make it into a shammy kebab....................
let the burgers defrost and put them in a mixing bowl.
squash them up with your fingers until mincemeat consistency.
add a teaspoon of Garam Masala, handful of Coriander, either 2 chopped up green chillies or a sprinkle of chili powder, and 2 teaspoons of Kasuri Methi (fenugrec)
add 1 small egg and mix the lot together.
take a small quantity of the mix and flatten it out in the palm of your hand. Place the burger in a frying pan on medium heat and fry til cooked through.
serve with the yoghurt sauce, shredded lettuce and shredded carrot mix and put either a slice of lemon on the plate or use some Jif lemon.
2 x the original burgers will make 10-12 smaller, flatter Shammy kebabs

Alternatively go to your local Indian and order some.:D:D

No carbs? Really? It's a pity we don't have a local Asda round here!

Thanks for the tip

Homemade burgers are great fun too, you can make so many variations, haven't found better in the shops but haven't tried those so...

Sometimes I just use lean mince and like you said you can add virtually anything. Adding a small egg just binds it all together.
Try adding a little curry paste, that is wicked.

Egg! I hate egg! This might be a way I could make myself eat some! You are a genius! :)

I had 2 of the quarter pounders for my tea with shredded lettuce/carrot mix, yoghurt sauce, fried onions and a squirt of lemon juice over the burgers. My B S level reading before the meal was 6.5 and 2 hours later 6.2. may be different for other members but I was just trying to show that this meal works for me. I'll just add as well, that 2 x quarter pounders + the extras was quite filling even for me and I actually left about 1/3 of a burger. Just a thought here, you could just have 1 burger and add a wedge of cheese on top.:D

I do burgers regularly.

Basically take some good quality mince (beef, lamb, even turkey), add any seasonings, and a beaten egg, then shape into patties and fry or grill. Cheaper and nicer than bought, but also more fragile, which makes me wonder what binding agents they use...

I think my best ever monster burger had garlic, grated onion, mustard and sun dried tomato paste (ketchup substitute) mixed in. Then proper slabs of good cheese on the top. They were lush.

I should do them again. Soon.

Just taken another B S reading to show you that it wasn't going to spike after 2 hours. At 7.15pm it was 6.5, at 9.12pm it was 6.2 and at 10.45pm it was 5.7 and I still feel really full.

Going to try these - thanks for post. I live out in the stix and the nearest supermarkets to me don't deliver (circa 8 miles) however Asda Swansea do (70 miles) weird !! but it is helpful when I can't get to town and for heavier items, so far they've been excellent on price, products and delivery times and cost (£1 to deliver).

And don't forget the garlic ;)

Home-made burgers are always the best using a good quality mince.

Make sure you use fresh garlic eddie and not those awful granules, I also add a beef Oxo Cube as well as other seasonings.

I make my own.
Make two thin burgers.
Place cheddar cheese on the top, in the centre of one.
Seal it all together with the other burger, for an inside out cheese burger, which you then cook as normal.

I tend to use ghost chilli in mine, rather than garlic, but I suspect it's an acquired taste.

Well that's tomorrows dinner sorted @douglas99 thanks

Just had to let you see what I had for tea tonight. hand made Shami Kebabs with shredded lettuce covered in greek yoghurt, sprinkled in Cayenne pepper. Didn't have a fresh lemon so substituted it for bottled lemon.
The kitchen smells like an Indian restaurant full of aromatic herbs and spices smells.
