So last week I had a really heavy cold still have the end of it but last night i was really ill projectile vomiting and the other end, felt that weak i collapsed under my own legs, hubby was there to look after me.
I took my blood sugar cos my friend said it might be too low after the vomiting and other end, but it war as 7.8

I was feeling okay after all the clear out and still do . I don't feel like eating but i was peckish , the only thing i could fancy was white bread and butter , so thought to myself well I need to eat something and so hubby bought some bread and made me two slices with butter .

I thought this will spike my sugar but it tasted good and i feel okay after it.
Just tested after two hours and blood sugar is 5.4 , I was amazed by this , but at the same time confused as to why it never spiked me .

I'm happy don't get me wrong but just don't understand this type 2 diabetes , my blood sugar usually ranges around 7.8 after food and i wake always to 7.7 maybe a little lower . So this lower reading was a pleasant surprise, maybe the next test will be higher who knows .

Jacky - In these circumstances, it's not possible to really say why something is as it is.

Being under the weather can push our blood sugars up a bit, as our bodies try to fuel the fight against whatever ails us.

It could be that with your purge from both ends, your body used some of it's naturally stored glucose to keep you going. What that happens, the first thing that happens when we refuel is the liver recharges it's stores - a bit like a rechargeable battery.

Of course, it could easily be something else.

Just keep testing, and hopefully you'll be feeling much better soon.

Who knows? None of us here

thanks , feeling so much better . 5.9 just now drinking lots of water instead of coffee, maybe that is the reason because cream has carbs i think .

Hi Jacky,
It depends upon the cream, but in general cream has fewer carbs than does milk.
I think its the fat in the cream because i used to be ill before i became type 2 if i had cream, so since Monday I've stopped the cream and only have a bit of milk in coffee , I've only had two coffees really weak with a dash of milk, stomach feeling better . Blood sugars are lower, my waking reading was 6.9 and it hasn't been that for months, .because of my queasy stomach i have only been able to eat toast with butter and a few ginger biscuits , two hours later 5.7 .

Just eaten some tea , bought some sliced pork from Tesco and had a small scoop of potato broc sprouts and a yorkshire pudding all small portions , just fancied this meal and need to eat again I've lost half stone since last Tuesday because of a cold virus and then this sickness , have a banging headache but been drinking loads of water , since the meal the headache has lifted . I really enjoyed this meal .
Will test again two hours and see what it does to my sugar .

Thanks for the reply I appreciate it , I am really thinking it is the cream laying heavy on me , the fat in it lays heavy . Since cutting it out feeling 90 % better .

Obviously you are lucky enough to have a relatively high tolerance of carbs: Toast , ginger biscuits, yorkshire pudding, potato would each spike my BG above 8.0 Heck, even a small raw carrot would do so!
