been feeling ill recently got runny nose like a cold sugars have been more stubborn not wanted to come down is it normal for sugar levels to be harder to control when you ir or have cold?.

Yes, it is......

You could argue your body is working harder to fight off any infection/virus and so your body needs to supply more energy to do that.....also there may be some additional hormones being released which could increase your normal resistance to insulin....

ultimately you may likely need more insulin.....which is usually compensated with an increase in basal and/or a tweak of the bolus.....

Absolutely.

In addition, I find a higher BG always magnifies any niggles, pain, illness.
So, if I have a runny nose, my BG rises and, as my BG rises, my nose runs even more.
As a consequence, it becomes more important to try to bring my BG down with corrective bolus and, maybe increased basal.
This takes a bit of trial and error and more testing than usual.

I hope you feel better soon - rest, drink plenty and look after yourself.
