I try to look at things a bit differently than that and I find it helps a lot in terms of my mental strength.i guess a life of enjoying all the bad things i have to reap the consequences now. I have to flip it and see it as a good thing.
ok yes you are right, I love to cook and am great at it lol love fish so thats cool,LCHF really doesn't have to be boring...
Please have a look at some of the recipes from this website and the forum members....
Honestly they are fantastic.
I am gluten free, lactose free as well. I make wonderful broccoli and stilton soup that is low carb. Many people have berries and a bit of yogurt or bacon, sausage n mushrooms etc..
The thing is that you will need fat of some sort.
You don't say whether you are willing to cook or not, so its quite hard to advise.
2sq of dark choc a day is ok. Or one-ha!!
Spirallised courgettes are lovely and see even M&S are selling them already spirallised.
The key no matter what is to get balanced nutrition for all the vitamins and minerals...so some fat, protein is necessary.. Doesn't have to be OTT just make sure that its balanced.
Don't think its impossible... Its not. Yes, its easy to get a quick pizza but its so easy to make one that is low carb and balanced...

I do eat full fat plain yoghurt and strawberries and blueberries, I love spinach and broccoli and green beans and garden peas.
Im trying to stay away from too much cheeses, as I'm also trying to alkalise my body a bit.
I have stopped all gluten and grains now since the first week testing, I also had to stop the quinoa as that was spiking me.
I have a few almond recipes i use too. and i think ill try the cauliflower pizza see how that works out.
I think this weekends cheating myself not treating myself got me down i guess.
Onward and upwards! thank you ill check the recipes out.
I yes love tuna and eat it. I boil eggs and have lots of cheeses. Spinach lettucw celery olives. And long green beans french beans are low carb and have inulin in it to support insulin resistance.Do you eat fish? A can of tuna, mixed with chopped capers, olives with mayo, salt pepper and lemon juice is a good lunch. Throw in some walnuts and its pretty tasty. Chopped up chicken breast with curry mayo ala 'coronation chicken', that's nice too. Boiled eggs with cheese, olives and nuts. Its important to keep some snacks in the fridge to keep your energy up while you get a chance to make something proper. If you can manage lentils you could make a dahl with boiled eggs.
Hi donnellWhy try to achieve 4 when that is low?
Meters have up to a 20% error so 4 could be much lower...
Hi donnell
I guess im looking at readings for healthy normal non diabetics which are 3.2 to 4.5 fasting. Seeing as im pre diabetic and nit diabetic yet. Id like to think I can train my pancreas and blood sugars lol.
heard on the grapevine that maple syrug can bring down bgs if taken in small doses. I also heard that about cinnamon and apple cider vinegar and aswaganda tincture. I cant stick to things long term so I dip in and out of each of these and am about to experiment with aswaganda tincture. I dont have maple syrup at home but mayne I should get some! Ill keep u posted if I do. XWow, 4.2 to 5.6 sounds just about perfect! Congrats!
Your maple syrup experience makes me wonder about reactive hypoglycemia. Have you looked into that?
I've been told that below 4 mmol/l is not desirable (not that I've ever been in danger of that).
Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in here as well, as I'm relatively new to all this myself in the past year.
Can you tell me where did you get those figures from? I understood it was 4 to 5.9. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
