soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
Some people may already have seen this

Postie has finally got through and brought the latest issue of Balance.
There are a few things of interest, among them the following

Driving Ban to Go?
The European Commission has passed a directive that could introduce individual assessments for people with insulin treated diabetes who want o hold Group 2 driving licences
At present, the UK bans all insulin treated people from driving Group2 vehicles (large goods vehicles and vehicles carrying more than 6 passengers) except category C1 licence holders (3.5 – 7.5 tonne vehicles), who may hold these licences under certain conditions.
The directive provides criteria for people taking diabetes medication, as well as insulin dependent people who have had no severe hypoglycaemic events in the previous 12 months. All EU member states must comply within a year. But until then current UK legislation applies
This strikes me in 2 ways
Blanket banning of Insulin users is to go, BUT users of other hypo inducing medications, will be under the microscope.
PS snow outside is now only about 6 inches deep, but I still haven't seen my car.

blanket banning and blanket un-banning both seem rather stupid to me. What we need is well-trained medics making sensible decisions. But in a nanny state that's unlikely. (thigh-deep and no car visible)

I still think it is a bad idea and will now just encourage T1's who want to drive HGV or PSV vehicles to keep their numbers artificially high and that cant be a good thing health wise even if it gets them their licence back. Plus is it not true that hypos can and do come 'out of the blue' even to the best controlled.

If their livelihood is at risk, very few people will put it at risk by voluntarily supplying information that they've had a hypo.
So they kep their numbers high, loose warning signs, and boom.
Personally, it's a bad idea.
