Hello. I am a long standing type 1. About 6 months ago my wife did a b/s test and the result was 11.4- after a meal. About 2 hours later it was 6.6.

I have kept an eye on this, and notice her b/s readings can reach 14 after meals, but drop to 6 or 7 within 2-3 hours.
Last night her b/s reading was 11.0 before bed, and 6.0 this morning before breakfast.
Any views on this please?

Best to get your wife to get the Drs blood test to be sure about things..l my wife is not diabetic.. But can have higher blood sugars than me sometimes ...

Yes, she needs to see the GP and ask for an HbA1c test. This at least may put your minds at rest.

My non-diabetic husband spikes to double figures after eating a carb-laden meal but returns to normal within 2 to 3 hours. His base line readings are always in the 4's

Hi. If you or your husbands readings return to below 8 mmol 2 hours after a meal then you should both be OK. Spikes in between can be largely ignored. But, yes, do see the GP if in doubt and ask for an Hba1C.
