I asked a member of staff where I could inject and was told "Not here! we don't allow drugs in here", I explained it was insulin for my diabetes and if I didn't inject soon she would be picking me up off the floor or calling an ambulance and I would be calling the press and my solicitor. Oh use the ******** loo then. I then sat down where I was and started to get the pen ready and was told in no uncetain times to get the **** out!. I just looked at her and did the injection them ate 5 jelly babies (as suggested in the care pack). As soon as I said I was feeling better she said oh well I will get your order now, I said No need, after those jelly babies I don't feel hungry now and walked out. I could hear her seathing behind me
I found another cafe just across the street, I must have looked out of sorts as the lady behind the counter asked if I was ok, when I explained she said sit down one tea and a ham salad sandwich on its way (No charge). Seem her son is type 2 also.

I don't even believe you are a diabetic .i don't mean to be bad but what would you be taking a injection for if you were going into a hypo ?

There is cirtainly no reason why anyone should have to make it obvious what they are doing unless it is attention seeking. you know you have diabetes and are an insulin user Why broadcast it to all in sundry.
Absolutely Anna - loads of people out there do not realise the full impact that diabetes has on us......as I said I have never avoided injecting in public but I should have said that I have never avoided it in any country I have been in. Perhaps that should be one of the campaigns that the different Diabetes charities out there do.... letting the public know that we are having to mechanically do what their body does naturally and in fact there is little or no difference. Just as a little note I also now test my blood sugar at the table.... all part of DAFNEanna29 said:Hi All .
The best post that made me chuckle aloud on this topic - was a poster who whilst injecting in a resturant .
Told someone who was complaining over him doing his insulin at the table said - well excuse me, for "extending my life" :lolno:
Strong point to use, I know - but it 'worked' as the complainer then apologised to him and started to ask him
loads of questions about him being an insulin dependent diabetic.
Think he realised it was his ' own lack of ' understanding and knowledge of our lifestyle with Diabetes.
Anna.
