I am on a dose of 66 two times a day nurse tells me i have to use 4 needles but I have started to inject 50 then redial and inject 16 this way its just 2 needles.
I was just wondering what others do

I only ever change my needles at end of a vial!! Use multiple times as only inject very small doses.

I do have the BD needles which are best ones.

Hospitals always advise to change.. today I have had 12 injections in total.... so glad I'm not changing everytime. Never done me any harm - done this for 30+ years...

I know you shouldnt but Its my choice.

There is a chance of air entering the vial when the syringe is left in. Potential for contamination is a concern.

I inject up to 5 times a day and change the syringe each time. What you are doing is ok, there is no harm in that. I would do the same, but after the double shot I would change the syringe.

I use a needle until it hurts or the preset looks weird. But I use a pen now, not a syringe. Im also on very low doses.

I use a lancet the same way. Until it hurts or I don't get blood.

I'm not advising either, jus taaying what I do

Slightly changing the topic - I always had BD needles and got very little bruising pain etc but they sent different ones at the chemist this time I wonder why that would be?

I understand the reason we are advised to change needles after every injection is to avoid the needle going blunt.
A blunt needle will hurt and bruise.
This (and other risks) are described here: https://www.bd.com/uk/diabetes/page.aspx?cat=14152&id=63677
However, I think there needs to be some pragmatism added to this advice - if I was going out, I would often take one needle only. If I needed to inject more than once, I would use the same needle. Otherwise, I would need to take sharps disposal bins. etc. with me. I would often bruise when injecting but it made no different to whether I changed my needle every time or used it a couple of times.
In your position, I would do the same as you - one needle for one dose ... or see if it is possible to get a pen which can deliver your full dose in one go.

Cost! Tell doc and nurse and they should change you back again. My DN was keen to know if I had bad bruising from new/cheap ones as many others she says have. She will be reporting back to hospital consultant.

Changing needles every shot is also to avoid infection.

When I change my needles I alsways put the clear plastic cover on top of the old needle and then just toss it in our garbage. No sharps container and no exposed needle.

Ah I see - thanks for letting me know! That makes sense, I'll feed back that I don't like em as much! I initially thought it was just different packaging but no they are different and not as good!

The CCG will have instructed drs to only prescibe certain needles.

It's ok. I know I am 'moralistic' about such things, but it is not my intention to cause offence. I try so hard to walk softly through the world, but it is impossible not to step on toes.

I got a needle snipper (I don't know the correct term) it clips the sharp and then you can put the needle in a normal bin. As with everything it wasn't easy to get - dn suggested it but it took 3 trips to the pharmacy for them to actually hand it over it's good if your eating out
