Inspiration for fat foods

Worth a try then, as long as you are sure. Don't cut out on oily fish though. Good luck, and tell us if it works.

Oh I won't! I love my fish!!

Thanks guys!! The only thing I miss about carbs is their partnering with fats - like guacamole and Doritos, butter with bread, cheese on toast..,
Remember that BBC documentary that was on with the twin doctors, one zero fat, one zero carb?

They suggested that the most loved food was 50/50 fat/carb combo. So, cheese ok. Bread ok. Cheese on toast amazing. They proved it with science lol

Bullet coffee (fat coffee) coffee well mixed with butter and coconut oil (you can add cardamom or cinnamon if you like) , looks like a latte, if you don't like coffee use hot water and cocoa powder (and some vanilla powder if you like) or tea instead.

Like the idea, don't like peanuts.
However there is crunchy cashew nut butter :-)

I would omit the Stevia from the recipe - if you don't add it to the nut butter on its own then why do you need it?

Oh, and too much protein and oily fish can lead to gout (ouch).
LCHF is supposed to be mainly fat, minimum protein needed for repair (possibly about 5%) and the carbs that come with non-starchy vegetables.
I've seen numbers such as 85% fat, 10% carbs, 5% protein suggested.
I am still struggling with the concept of having 85% of my energy in fat but others have managed.

Cheers

LGC

I think 85% is too much.

Yeah I'm aiming for 50% fat and 40g carbs. Get most of carbs from veg.

Would like to reduce my dairy a bit but not sure I'm ready!!

At the moment my percentages are 25% carbs, 25% protein and 50% fat. The carbs are 75g. but often lower than that and never over 80g. I can't go much lower than that without giving up bread and spuds altogether, and as they don't spike me too much with the portions I eat I am happy. I may have to re-think when I have my next HbA1c :(

I wish I was better with bread :(

Which kinds have you tried? I am currently on Hovis 7 seeds wholemeal. I can manage 1 slice with a meal but not 2 slices.

Rye, burgen, wholemeal, wholemeal pitta, white bread!!!!

Deb - give it a while, then you might tolerate your beloved bread a bit better. It may not feel it, but it's very early days for you still.

Freezer has rye and burgen in it that will get eaten but I'm thinking half a slice from time to time when I fancy it! It blows my carbs allowance in one hit so I also try to avoid it for that reason too.

I was looking at pate today and ended up putting it back as I couldn't think of anything to eat with it!
