Has anybody else had a change from using Novo Rapid insulin to Trurapi insulin ? my surgery has just changed mine as a cost cutting exercise recommended by the NHS and have told me I should see no difference , I was just wondering if anybody else has had this change and if you had noticed any difference .

Hi. Yes my surgery did the same months ago, and I haven't really noticed any significant difference. Be interesting to hear others experience.

I also have been changed from NovaRapid to Trurapi and haven't noticed any difference. They are both, in my experience, slow to bring down blood glucose.

I think this was done in Canada some time ago as @cdpm posted about it.
My understanding is that it's biosimilar rather than identical so should be the same but isn't guaranteed to be?

I think then that the only difference I will see will be the pens without the digital readout on the top , I have on a few occasions had to check to make sure I did inject .

Not too sure what you mean, but my Trurapi pens have the same markings for units and on the dial at the top as does NovaRapid.

Possibly a reference to 'smart insulin' novo echo pens (with novorapid cartridges) rather than the normal flexpen which we use? As you have said, the pens we have are virtually identical to the novorapid flexpens.

Yes bruce it's only a small compromise but I have needed it on a few occasions , you could say it's a plus not having it as the batteries only last about three years and you then throw out a perfectly good pen and get a new one , a waste for the NHS and bad for the environment .

Thanks In Response , I don't really need the echo pen and was only given one a few years ago when I was prescribed one when my old pen was damaged and I did assume that it was the the latest replacement for the old model .
