Are there any knowledgeable people out there with reference to whether an insulin dependant T2 can take a motorcycle test and, if successful, ride motorcycles?
Thanks.

Hi,

It's no different really to a driving licence with the DVLA.
They need to be informed then you get a DIAB1 form & it's just hypo awareness & eyes, medical fitness to drive.
DVLA contact your GP.
3 year restricted licence (maximum.) Renewed at no cost every 36 months..

I'll tag in @searley who knows his way round the DVLA. I'm not sure if he rides as well?

Oddly enough, I got some sort of class A motorcycle coverage on my driving licence.
But I didn't take a bike test. Just went for the four wheel flavour..
I'm assuming it's provisional coverage?

I have recently sold my bike as I wasn't using enough to warrant keeping it. But I am a (obviously insulin dependent) T1 and don't see why you should not be able to take the test. As far as I know, there are no different rules to driving a car,

That's my assessment regarding fitness to drive on insulin.

Thought I'd say that just to mention & stay on topic, great to see you online, Urb.

Thanks for the reply. I have A on my licence as well, but with a couple of restrictions - codes indicate glasses and “limited” to trikes. Hence the reason for asking the initial question
