that is a discussion that takes place between the patient and their health care team.and it is a starting point. How do you know what the right insulin dose is for you?
What type of insulin are you on? I know that my doses are correct when my blood sugars fall into the target range set by my diabetes team. How do you know what the right insulin dose is for you?
Thank you himtoo, ert, and inResponse: kind of you to give me good information. I am on humulin, but I started quite low about 4 yrs ago (10ish?) and I find I have to increase it now gradually. My GP at pre-pandemic times tried to help me but that diabetology was not her specialty. I am gaging by personal feedback, e.g. if I feel like I am slowly slipping into a semi-coma I raise the units, as recommended in the package instructions, and that does work. Problem is that getting an equilibrium with other meds and activity or lack of it, makes it difficult to stay in the right range. Thank you all for your suggestions.
