Insulin - how long to work?

Diagnosed type 2 about 2 weeks ago. Started immediately on insulin as glucose 20-30. Gone from 10 units morning and night to 24 2 per day. Glucose levels are like a rolkercoaster. Last 2 days 12-25. Eating salads and low carb. How long might this take? What I eat doesn't seem to alter things. I had a choc bar 4 first time in two weeks and glucose went down on next test! It really is getting to me.

It's probably early days yet, but your bg levels are still very high so you need to discuss your results with your diabetes team so they can advise.

Also what insulin are you taking, mixed, long acting, rapid acting etc? I found long acting alone did nothing to help, it wasn't until I had short acting added in that I got the results I wanted.
