As your daughter is not feeling too good here is a link with much advice about the subject of Ketones. The level you are desribing is small (0.5). The main concern is when Bg levels are high and there are Ketones, however you still have to be wary of the Bg level dropping too low.

You appear to be doing the right thing so far, sugar and water.......If the blood glucose level is below 12 mmol/l give carbohydrate—containing fluids or food.

In some cases where symptoms persist- there is dehydration or the blood glucose level cannot be kept above 4 mmol/l- hospital admission may be required. If things are improving but the blood glucose levels are tending to stay low- insulin doses should be reduced. Do not stop the insulin- but consider reducing insulin doses anywhere from 20 to 30 per cent or more. A reduced insulin dose may be required for a number of days as it takes some time for the bowel to recover. Insulin doses may be difficult to judge in this situation- and if in any doubt- contact your diabetes team for advice.

Hope she feels better soon.......
