Insulin Pump availability

I am type 1 on insulin for many years - have Libra 2 system which is brilliant.
Exploring possibility of insulin pump as I have hand tremors - hands shake a lot and difficulty with back problems so injecting insulin with needles difficult at times.
I am told I need to take NHS Daphne course prior to discussing an insulin pump availability with NHS diabetic team.
Waiting list for courses are 6 months + and although on waiting list this may be longer.
Anyone have similar issues or can give help/advice.
Pensioner so looking for NHS funded options.
Rgds

Would there be a private Dafne type course you could take? Or could you prove you're already a dab hand at counting carbs?

I’m on pump and have not done dafne

I did do a basic online training can remember its name ‘Desmond’???

The local equivalent to DAFNE was a prerequisite for me to have a pump even though I had been carb counting for 12 years.
I think it was a way for the DSN (who took the course) to assess us for ability to understand the added complexity that comes with a pump and the willingness to invest the time as well as ensuring carb counting to the extra precision required when you have no "spare" basal

Hello @keith-major Welcome to the forum.

Yes DAFNE is the course required to gain access to pump therapy, in regards to pump availability that depends on your what your local hospital has available, speak to your DSN to ask what pumps are available, they will help you choose to depending on your specific requirements, I appreciate you have hand tremors however pumps can be quite fiddly to operate as the buttons are small and there is alot of user input required once pump therapy starts to manage the pump settings, so just something to be aware of as they are not fully automatic devices but speak to your DSN as they can give you more info on this.
