Insulin pump help

Hello. I am a type 1 diabetic and have had it for 20 years. I have been on the insulin pump again for about a year. Yesterday my blood sugars weren't going down like normal with a bolus. I have changed my sites numerous times. Not finally putting it in my stomach to see if that works. I also took a injection with a insulin pen in hopes that will work. I'm not sure what's wrong or anything. Could I be insulin resistant? Please help.

hi there @UnusualUnicorn
welcome !! :)

a few thoughts on solving the immediate issue ( getting bloods into mid single figures.)

a new vial / cartridge of insulin from the fridge -- just in case
change set again
pen injection

are you getting an infection ?
are you under loads of stress currently ?
If you are female are there monthly female issues currently ?

sorry if all this is a little vague -- but if I go high for no apparent reason -- I immediately change pod ( Omnipod ) -- but same as a set change for you -- and /or change to a new vial of insulin - and failing that do all of the above and give myself a pen injection of 2-4 units to sort of bump start me back into single figures

when this happens I end up losing anywhere from 3 - 6 hours if my bloods were above 15 or 16.
( thankfully it happens very rarely )

edited to add -- am tagging a few pumpers for some support

If the pen bolus brings your bg levels down then you'll know it's a pump related issue.

How are your sugars now @UnusualUnicorn ?

Occasionally, I find that if I start the day high, it can be a struggle to get my sugars down and will take a few hours.

Changing your insulin and set is sensible, as is moving to,another body area.

I find sudden high sugars in the absence of illness or stress are usually to do with a set problem.

Hi @UnusualUnicorn , sorry to hear it's been a struggle to lower your sugars.

You've changed sites several times so that would suggest to me that it's an issue with the insulin, or you've picked up an infection and that's why you've got 'stuck' up there.

I really struggle when I'm high, and if I'm very high, often I need a correction that is a greater ratio than my normal correction ratio. I test ALL the time though if I've corrected a very high or long-lingeringly high sugar level.

Hope all's well now! How are you feeling?
