Hi there, looking for some advice please regarding the insulin pumps?
We live in Tenerife and my daughter (who is 10 yrs.. diagnosed type 1 and coeliac at 5 yrs) has a very active life, mainly to do with water. She swims daily for up to 1.5 hrs for the Los Cristianos swim team, we have a pool and of course the beach.
I am just wondering if anyone with a pump could advise if it would be worth trying this as I have read there are many benefits from it, but then my concerns are the amount of time she is in the water and sun exposure... plus of course availability (which I am looking into).
Any response appreciated.
Many thanks

The Animas pump is waterproof. Animas had a team of type 1's swim the channel whilst using their pumps :)

Seconded - use a vibe myself and they are very good the extra feature is a massive bonus alongside the CGM.

I have an omnipod patch pump which means the controller does not need to be on your person. They are completely water proof. I have used it when on holiday and in pools for long periods of time.

We recently visited Mexico, and my OH wanted To do snorkelling and scuba diving etc. I wouldn't do it as I didn't wanna leave my pump and I didn't want my sugars going ******. We are off to aruba in 3 weeks and I've just bought the aquapac pump case for my medtronic paradigm 7, I've tried it and you can barely notice the pump is there. It does say that there may be a reduced flow rate, but i wore it for an hour and no change in BS. hopefully it will work. Just putting that out there as on option for you.
