i went back for my specialist appointment....fianally he seems to be listening to me!

well he seems to be proactive now

he wanted to see if i had any recorded episodes of ketosis....no i don't believe
so he now says (after refusing me metformin on the grounds of it making type 1's feel sick) and i had to get it myself from my gp.....he has never questioned me being a type 1, but now he is not sure that i do not have mature onset ...so he has started me on byetta.

i showed them my sos talisman with the antibiotic i don't have anymore, because it reduced my insulin needs by a 1/3 in a week.
CLARITHROMYCIN

the conversation continued and the dr said that if its going to work it will be evident over the next 2 months.
as i got my instructions off the nurse i spoke about the other meds that they could try. there is one other in a tablet. see how it goes. but out of interest the nurse spoke of its ingrediants. i asked about the clarithromycin. it turns out it has elements of this in it!
well halle yooooleeeaaa!

so a couple of years ago i had figured out i was insulin resistant and had asked if there was a medicine that may have the above mentioned drug in it as it would help...more of a joke, but i knew what had reduced my insulin. had i been listened too at all could a difference be made earlier?

so my first night on byetta......i felt sick and dropped into my first hypo in ages!
so i reduced my insulin the next day as that hypo was frightening

the dr's reduced my basal from 52 to 30 to 40 to 24.....and variants inbetween....none worked. i ended up on 80 + units of insulin a day.
so now in the last two days of being on the byetta i have had a daily dose of insulin of between 40 and 50..

too early for conclusions....but certainly raises an eye brow.....my bloods are by no means great, but for the first time in ages i have had some better results.
i have to be patient and not disheartend..
any thoughts..as i am in unknown territory for me :)
