Hi Folks,

I am Sigi, 60 years ancient, and living in semi-rural Herefordshire. I have had type 2 diabetes for some 16 years-8 years coping on diet alone, then gradually working through Metformin doses and have just moved on to glyclizade with Metformin. For the first time I feel as if I ought to do some blood glucose testing-so far I've relied on HbA1c every 3-4 months and generally felt ok. As I also have fairly severe osteo-arthritis of the hands with some loss of sense in my fingers, I really really really don't want to blood-let. Does anyone have the most up-to-date information on the other types of monitors, please?

My name is Pat i am 63 years old and live in Devon with my 2 lovely dogs and cats. I have 2 children and 6 grandchildren. My main hobby is knitting which i really enjoy and walking my dogs. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 6 years ago, firstly it was diet controlled then after a while my GP prescribed Metformin for me which i am still on. I have been fine until a few weeks ago when i started feeling very strange while i was out, trembling and just not right, an hour or so after i had eaten i felt fine again, but this seems to be happening on a regular basis now which worries me, i can have breakfast then a couple of hours after feel strange. I have never been told by my GP to check my blood sugar levels either i just have my normal bloods done. It will be nice to talk to like minded people.

i have been diagnosed Diabetes type 2 for about 3yrs when i went for normal blood test at my local dr's while having the test i felt dizzy and almost fainted ( i don't like needles ) :crazy: as from then i have been on medication my meds include
metformin 850mg 3 times a day,glimepitde 3mg once a day with food,im also on vitamin b strong compound,2 - 3 times a day
atenolol 25mg once a night ,simvastatin 40mg once a night ,omeprazole capsules 40mg one also at night i am also a asthmatic where i take 2-3 puffs of Ventolin inhaler every night or when needed,.
i have always had a very high bg level some days i reach 11 can go up to 21 i am always tired no energy dizzy :thumbdown: i have been to a Diabetes nurse ant my hospital and have tried working with her to lower my bg level but not helped :?
i have a healthy diet but get very confused about what to eat and what not to eat i don't like sugar but just found out that most of what we bye from the shops have added sugar i have looked at some diets but can not find anything that works i always seem to have pretty high bg levels i have been told that i may have to go on insulin but as i have noted ( i don't like needles ) just the thought of them makes me dizzy can any one help or have any suggestions

i have been a type 2 diabetic since 1983 but have started takeing takeing victoza for 2 weeks apart from the sickness it seems to bbe going well im hopeing the sickness will go soon but i find if i eat small amounts and not to late at night the sickness is bearable any one else got any ideas about controling the sickness

I need some advice off people with type 2 diabetes, does any body else have very angry rash on their chest quite often, i sometimes have this when i have a glass of wine, or when im really hot.. dont know if its a side affects of metformin thank you

p.s, its not there permnently, just appear out of nowhere
 
name rosa. type 2 for many years, was very control diabetic. untill i got to my 60s, now have so many medications that i am sure is interfering with my bs and bp as well as my health. my g.p. is not very resposive so here i am now talking to a p.c.screen. please someone reply. :roll: i dont know how to use this tech very well, would like some information please.
