Hi As my Daughter was experiencing effects of what we later learned must have been dodgy Novo Flexpens, I was wondering if anyone else has heard, has links to documents, experienced or cared for someone who experienced serious and non-serious hypoglycemic events or photographed any flexpens with faults?

My name is Kate and I was diagnosed T2 3 days before Christmas!
I'm an immature 64year old from Lancashire.
I took early retirement from education 7 years ago and discovered life exists! I have a dog, love rugby league ( watching!) I'm friendly, supportive and loving. I worry too much about.....everything! Love travelling home and abroad. My faults? Think I can solve everyone's problems and don't think about mine. Positives, I'm a great friend, loving wife and grandma!

Hi One and All,

I am a 73 year old Brit living in Germany, where I have been for the last 38 years.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 after having to undergo a medical before being able to work in China.

Working away from home and living in hotels for a large part of my last 15 working years and numerous holidays since having retired 10 yeas ago, did my blood sugar levels no favours at all.

I have ‘realised’ the errors of my ways and have now reduced my holidays to renting holiday flats in differing parts of Germany for a week or two so that I can prepare my own food as opposed to having to eat what is dished up by hotels or restaurants.

For the last couple of year I have been eating largely low-carb with considerable success and am now starting to gather Keto as well as low-carb recipes and would like to get myself on to a Keto BASED diet - but am now too set in my ways (plus, I like my food to much) to go flat out on Keto!

The thing that has plagued me most throughout my ‘diabetic’ life is the fact that no matter which doctor, dietitian, experienced nurse or well intention amateur expert on the subject with which I have had advice from, I have yet to hear or see any sort of realistic pattern emerge as to the right or correct diet to follow. For example, my diabetes doctor assures me that the very best breakfast for us ‘sweeties’, is 2 eggs and bacon every morning - but his very own dietitian tells me “NO MORE THAN 1 EGG PER WEEK”. After all is said and done, until a scientifically researched diet is worked out, all others are really only personal opinions. So, I have now gathered a collection of over 3000 low-carb and Keto recipes and I am in the process of working out which foods and recipes suit me best - and that is the advice that I would give any ‘Probie’ - yes, I too enjoy watching NCIS!

Really, the only thing that bothers me now, is because I make lots of soups and do experiment with recipes, is the difference between low-carb and Keto. I know that it is low-carb and high fat, but at what ratio carb to fat does a recipe become Keto as opposed to low-carb.

Anyway, I have rabbited on enough here - I think that I can hear one or two of you snoring, so I will close with the hope that you have all found the ‘right path’ to follow.

Hi,

I Just wanted to introduce myself to you all.

I am very new to Diabetes. I am used to illness but diabetes was a shock and I am having problems controlling it. I have read lots and found a lot of varied and contradictionary advice. I am 52 and lived most of my life in Suffolk. Born in Ipswich. I have lived last 13 years in Ireland. I have 2 adult boys 24 and 18.

I already have a number of illness's listed below.

1. Have a heart condition. Had 99% blockage. Had angio and was Stented. Had another angio abt 2 years later. Stenting 2007.
2. Heamachromatosis. I was diagnosed. ( genetic test ) in 2006. I have regular venesection at Roscommon hospital to keep iron serum level below 40.
3. I recently had a Pulmonary Embolism which was found around June 20th. Am on blood thinners to break clot down.
4. Severe Asthma with only 13 % lower lung function. I can only walk about 50m before becoming breathless.
5. Severe Osteoarthritis in both knees. Have been told by consultant that only thing they can do is replace them, for which I am far too young. Also spurs on both shoulder joints.
6. I have type 2 diabetes which did not respond to diet change. I am on 2 drugs orally and 1 injection.
7. I have had DPD Depersonalisation and derealisation since age 14. This led to many misdiagnosed. Have tried suicide twice. Ended up on life support. DPD will never stop. I am also being treated for severe depression and anxiety also Bi Polar and Borderline Personality.
8. I have COPD which causes me to have bronchitis, which comes and goes.
9.Carpel Tunnel nerve damage in both wrists, outer two fingers left and right hands numb/pins needles. Left worse than right.

I did not write the above for pity, just to let you know of the issues I am dealing with. I am very very lucky that the above were found and am dealing with them.

Diabetes is very new to me so I am learning.

I am a game designer by profession which I love. I have slowed down somewhat since illness's.
