Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hello one and all,
Name is John, been type 2 for a few years and looking for tips or help.
 
Hello all! I'm a few years into my T2 diagnosis and have joined this forum as lately I am struggling a lot. I've suffered severe metformin side effects since day one, lessened slightly by being switched to slow release a few months in. The next best alternative promises frequent and severe yeast infections which is less appealing to me even than the daily nausea and diarrhoea! It's played havoc with my appetite, tastes, daily routine, and there have been occasions in recent months where I've had a week 'off' because I was so desperate for relief, but I know that this is a terrible idea. My life is pretty seriously impacted and there is very little diabetes support or care via my GP since Covid so I'm hoping that I can find support here while I continue with the treatment I know I need. - Which sport(s) (if any) do you like/play? Sports none, strength training (I did a lot of strength training years ago, and next week I'm going to start again, Ketllebells and a bit of dumbbells, and Hiit, perhaps)

- Do you get angry easily? No.

- Do you have any tattoos or piercings? If so, where? One piercing in the nose. No tattoos yet XD.

- List your five favourite musicians/bands. Mago de Oz (Spanish metal group), a few pop singers and rap (mostly in Spanish)

- What would you say your favourite music genre is? Rap

- What is your favourite flag? Asturian flag, then the Union Jack flag and also the wales one. I don’t know why, but feel deeply connected to UK. I have visited London a few times (like 4), and some surroundings, but I would love to stay more time and visit other places.

- Ever gone camping? yes, when i was 14-18, or like.

- Ever been in love? Yes, with my wife.

- Ever used fake tan? No.

- Which countries have you visited? UK, France, Italy.

- Favourite city? I would say London.

- Do you work? If so, as what? Not for now. Only my wife. I am making a product photography portfolio, then website, marketing and look for clients.

- List the subjects you study/have studied. Computer science - not a career, vocational training, Photography, 3D modelling.

- What do you like most about yourself?

I'm good at a quite a bit of things, mostly because I'm curious and passionate, focus so well in one thing, that I can learn a lot quite easily (Autism). I am creative and with a deep artistic side, as well as inclined towards more technical things.

- What do you like least about yourself?

Except for certain times in my life, years ago, and now again, I have been very sedentary, no sports or much walk, and addicted to sugar and processed "food", which led me to end up with obesity and diabetes, and yet for years I remained unable to get control of my sugar cravings & addiction.

My name is Tony , im 62 from Cork in Ireland , helpfull, upbeat and techy , have a beautiful golden retriever called Ellie (year and a half)microsoft , android and an iphone 13 mini (because its the smallest decent phone for somebody with arthritis ,

was diagnosed with UC in 1980 and had most of my colon removed 5 years ago and got an ileostomy , have arthritis and now I have TYPE 2 ,which for now is been treated by metformin 500mg twice a day , was finally diagnosed about a week ago so a total newbie to this

but life is what it is and everyday you can get out of bed is a good one .

Yup. Haven’t been in a long time though. Tented it and we woke up so stiff in the morning lol we use my mom’s trailer during the summer, but that doesn’t feel like camping.

Hi, new here, obviously. Had my head in the sand like an ostrich the past few years about being diagnosed with T2 diabetes.
Partner was diagnosed with cancer around the same time, so I guess I didn't do the hard work (research, diet, exercise etc), as it was all a bit too much, all at once.
In hindsight, I should have done all the hard work right from day one.
This life we have is short, and I'm now focussed on doing whatever I can to make sure I am here for a long time, as fit as I can be to support my family and enjoy moments together.

I'm a little concerned at your username. Chocolate was a huge part of my life before diagnosis. It still is part of my life now, but much reduced and more enjoyable. My sugars are well controlled. Just worried you'll feel you can't live up to your name when you can learn to moderate. My motto is never say never, perhaps it can be yours too?
 
Newly diagnosed with T2. Starting on the Oviva VLCD program this coming Monday. Not going to be easy but got great support from family.

Hi everyone, it's been years since I joined a forum, definitely could use the support of knowing others with the same issues though.
(please forgive any grammar issues, I'm dyslexic & know I can often times do a pretty bad job. Thanks! I don't mind ever being corrected.. just letting you know to expect mistakes, lol.)

- Do you have any pets? - Yes, I just got two little finches, they are so small and sweet. Before that I've owned a few hamsters who all lived out their short little lives. I love animals, they are so fun to watch and good company.
- Do you get angry easily? - Only when i'm really stressed, or having a panic attack. Mostly I'm a go with the flow person... My husband might answer differently though.
- Ever been in love? - I love my husband and my family very much. "in love" just feels like a weird term only relating to romance movies.
- Ever used fake tan? - No but probably should lol, I am the color of a piece of paper so I'm told

- Are you wealthy? - Mildly comfortable I would say, as long as I don't ignore my budget I spend hours making... I always ignore it though.
- Do you work? If so, as what? - No I do not currently work, I am very lucky to have a wonderful husband who is very hard working for us at the moment. I would hope in the future to improve on my health to contribute more to the finances though, or at least have some sort of useful job that helps other people.
- What do you like most about yourself? - I have a lot of willpower, and I can be very hardworking/helpful to others, and I like to stay positive
- What do you like least about yourself? - I get overwhelmed easy, which causes me to enter a depressive state easy leading to a good bit of sitting on the couch being lazy, which causes me to feel worse, cause I hate being lazy. I usually snap out of it though, sometimes sooner than others.

I skipped a lot of questions just because trying to think about the answers hurt my brain, questionnaires always makes me forget even some of the most basics about myself! Anyways I'm hoping to join in the forum more, it's been a while like I said interacting with others like this, or in general. I really like to stick to a small bubble in my life. So I can be slow to respond or awkward, but do like to chat & hope to be friendly.
 
Hi. I found this form when searching for information on Libre 2 readings. A very helpful forum. I’m an old guy (70) and have been type 2 for maybe 10 years. However I’m still rather ignorant of many issues/facts concerning diabetes and control. I would have answered some of the list of questions, but not being to savvy, I couldn’t see how without retyping them all.
I live high in the mountains of Colorado in the US. I’m retired. Just got a recue dog, a boarder collie
kelpie mix. My wife and I enjoy traveling in our home built camper van. Thanks for the form. it is a great source of information!

We (being my hubby and me) have recently adopted a pussycat named Luna Lula Bell after many years of us not having the precious companionship of a 'pet'

I successfully held a career in Accounts Supervision for four decades
My diabetes journal began in 2000 after being diagnosed Type 1 - strangely there is nothing related in the family and being a petite person this was a diagnosis long time coming
Since joining this forum I am finding it so so helpful in reaching out to get the appropriate help
