Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hi, am Tenneng 57 years old, work out on home videos on you tube and looking after an ailing husband, been on Metformin for 3 years now, recently had a sugar spike following a blood test, from 4.7 to 8.4 and now on 1000g x 2 a day, going to the loo all the time. Please is this normal? Thanks

@Tenneng Welcome to the forum. This is a well known side effect for many people with Metformin. Some people find the slow release version is better tolerated, so it would be worth asking your gp/nurse to try that.

Have a read around the forum, especially the type 2 thread. There are a lot of friendly, knowledgeable people on the forum with all kinds of helpful information. Some people have put their diabetes into remission by adopting a low carb diet, if that's something that interests you.

Hello
I am Roz. Thank you for putting me on this community. I am looking forward to learning and sharing with you all.
i was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2015.
Not very long afterwards I moved to France.
I was previously on Metformin but it didnt suit me so I switched to Trulicity. That worked very well, and with some serious low carbing, I lost tons of weight and my numbers were good enough without medication.
Sadly, a lot of my weight has returned and my discipline has flown out of the window... so I will soon be seeing my Dr with a view to getting some medication and loe carb here we come.
On that subject, I joined the low carb programme on the Web but it is tak8ng forever to load... I have confirmed my e mail... any suggestions please.
Thanks in anticipation
Ha ha. I just saw the questionnaire I will give it a go.

Hi Everyone

Wow that's a massive questionnaire!
I'll come back when I can give it the time it deserves
Meantime... looking forward to getting to know you all soon

Have you tried sending them a message through their contact form?
The forum is mostly an independent platform and separate from the Low Carb Program.

Should you not get a reply on contacting them, by all means come back and let us know so we can alert an Admin.

Good luck!

I was diagnosed with type 2 two weeks ago (HbA1c in 90s), immediately on metformin. I'm now wondering how long I was hyperglycemic! Anyway I guess the diagnosis is good news, in the sense that I'm beginning to feel better already. I'm not "high risk" according to the calculations - people are asking me what caused it, but I don't really have an answer. Great to meet everyone here.

Hi, my name is Loraine and my husband has recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Although I work with people with diabetics, as part of my work and have helped them with diet, advice etc, my husband doesn't think I know anything and will only take notice of things people he believes to be experts tell him. He is very down and says he can't find any advice on what he should be eating, the diabetic nurse told him if he has carbs with one meal he needs to offset it at the next meal, but he doesn't know how many carbs he can have a day. We both work full time and look after our 3 year old grandson at weekends, we also have 3 mad dogs, who keep us busy. I would like to be able to support my husband but not sure where to find resources he can look at, as all the ones I suggest, he finds fault with. Any suggestions or ways to communicate with him would be great.

It might be worth starting a new thread with your questions, that way people can reply to it and hopefully give you some good ideas. :)

Hello everyone. This looks like a good forum, I am very pleased to discover you! I only stumbled across it when I was trying to calculate my BMI.
So, introductions. I am Jacqueline and have two grown kids, a springer spaniel for my sins and two cats to keep me humble. Not telling you my age.
I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes two days before Christmas. I wasn't terribly surprised, I've been prediabetic for years and in a very stressful job, which I dealt with by stress eating and then beating myself up over putting on weight. Anyway, I'm really determined to get on top of this so I'm eating keto for the next two months - keeping carbs down to mostly less than 40g per day. I've been doing it for a month now and actually really enjoy the sense of power it gives me over my appetite. Gradually getting my energy back and genuinely feel years younger.

I went camping in the UK as well last year, amazing holiday! :)
Ten days, but with my car and on my own.
Can heartily recommend https://brokhowseweeley.co.uk/ for first/last night if you take the Hoek van Holland ferry. Just 20 minutes from the ferry and very sweet people and animals.

Hi, I’m Elaine, 65 and a lifetime of carbs has finally caught up with me. I do eat healthily but apparently no healthy enough. A double whammy if Christmas and birthday didn’t help in the sweetie front either! I tend to wobble in and out D2, but going to try harder!
