Hello, I am new to this forum (well, I'm not actually but I haven't posted for a long time). I am Type 2, but not very well controlled, I am trying to get my sugar levels down. My nurse keeps telling me I should be aiming for 10.0 but I think I should be looking at lower scores. My eyesight is degenerating now, too. I find it scary. I have recently read that Macqui can lower sugar levels and wonder if anybody on here has tried it?

Hello, I'm new to the forum
Have had type 2 for many years and am trying to control it with diet and exercise. Had 3 tries of metformin and slow realease metformin over past 5 years but unable to tolerate the nausea and diarrhea. Having dreadful night sweats at present and desperate to find a solution.

Hello, my name is Howard, single (and available !!) I live in rural Shropshire,UK. I am now in my 8th decade when attending more funerals than weddings becomes the norm ! and you begin to worry about personal spare parts and warranty issues !! lol.
Diabetic life for me began back in 1964 when at the tender age of 14 I suddenly found myself in hospital diagnosed as Type one and started practising injections into oranges, calculating correct doses of insulin for 20/40/80 strength insulins, learning about lente/semi lente insulins and the mysteries of carb counting, hypos/hypers etc .
It was a big teaching hospital in Liverpool and all the student nurses/doctors used my arms to practice taking armfuls of blood ! Some of course were much better at it than others !! Plus I apparently was at that time the only one on the ward with a "normal heart beat/function" so they all came to listen !!.
Once I returned home/school like many at that time we had no home blood glucose monitoring (came in about 1970 I think), no pens, just glass syringes and reusable needles which were in short supply, a bottle of tablets to measure glucose in urine, no internet, no social networking, not even a diabetic support nurse, no school support staff, oh yes and an NHS supplied set of weighing scales to weigh foods to calculate their carb value !
Normal teenage sporting and social life was wrecked/non existent with schooling also badly disrupted by hypos/hypers etc.

Today having been on a journey from two injections a day, introduction of home blood glucose monitoring . four injections a day (MDI) am now partnered by the sort of technology that was only talked and dreamed about in 1964, a Medtronic 780G intelligent pump, with guardian four CGM. which of course has removed the need for constant blood stick calibrations. Been on a pump now for about 6 years started with Animas then transferred over to medtronic initially self funded but now NHS funded. Although your always aware of the potential for something to go wrong and never totally at ease, pumps and sensors have really made my life so much easier and I have no wish to return to MDI at all. I speak with my consultant either face to face or via video link usually about 3 times a year and have been awarded the status of "trustee" so now visits have been reduced and I ring pump nurse if I have an issue which fortunately is very rare !

SORRY GAVE UP ON THE Q&A’s. A bit long and personal for me to feel the need to answer

So I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2-3yrs ago. Just b4 covid kicked in. I’m on metformin twice daily, and a weekly injection of 3mg Trulicity.

I’ve been a bit naughty because I’ve kinda just carried on as normal and tested my bloods when I felt like it. Not really realising how bad this is!! But I’ve sat at around 9-12 mmol/L.
I have hypertension too. My doctor asked me to send a reading over, which I did and it was fine. I thought I’d do a bs test whilst I was at it. It’s reading 21.8 mmol/L
. I’ve now kicked myself up the bum and started an app to count my carbs etc. I’m not feeling great, headache, tired, nasty taste in my mouth and thrush!! Should I be letting my gp know or is there a good way of getting sugars down?? I walk but very slowly dues to having fibromyalgia and chronic pain. I would be grateful for some advice. Many thanks Kayla

Hi all. My name is Jon, I'm 59 and I live in France. I was diagnosed as type 2 three years ago but I think it was brewing for some time before that. I'm on metformin which seems to keep my sugars stable, the only thing about me that is!! I try to eat sensibly, following a semi vegetarian diet (I sometimes eat fish). I probably won't post much, I'll just lurk in the background unless I've got something useful to say.
