Hi Emie... Just saw your post re constantly having to explain yourself. I feel just the same, it can be quite tiresome at times. No one in my family or friends is diabetic so it's all new. Being newly diagnosed myself and everything keeps changing. Complete shock when I was diagnosed and just thought... Oh well changing my diet will do the trick. But no, straight on meds which were changed a few times, then basal insulin with meds, then they stopped my meds and now Basal-bolus insulin regime. I keep asking why me? I don't have time for this etc then I have to remind myself that I am NOT the only one!

The Hubby has been great but trying to get the kids to understand has been harder... I still don't think they understand how ill I am when having a hypo!

Only just getting used to the forum but already feel there will be lots of help ahead when I need it and looking at the threads and posts lots of laughter too

Hopefully speak again soon.

Welcome lindsey, how are you?

Hi oldoak, welcome to the best forum on the web

Hello to all the new people to the forum. Have a good read round.

Hi lea.

Yeah absolutely a total shocker when diagnosed, felt my life was over. Constantly hearing all the negative side to diabetes was and still is so scary. Was diagnosed a month before my 40th and my vision went blurry for a few weeks so had to cancel the "surprise" party my partner had arranged for me. Even now still get very frustrated with people's ignorance of diabetes and comments like "oh you can die of that can't you" thanks is all I can say haha. Really nice to hear from you, do have so much more to speak about but have to take my youngest daughter to a DVD and duvet night back at school.

Take care and speak soon x

Ah the joys of running around after the family... And squeezing in the management of diabetes! Now that's hard work and a total changer!!!

Hi @macivor I agree with Mike, it doesn't sound like you are getting very effective care. I'm assuming you are in the UK, so It might be worth having a look at the NICE guidelines and being a bit assertive with your GP. If he's not prepared to be more helpful, you should find another GP imho
