Well, arrived home from work yesterday to find confirmation of a diagnosis of diabetes, so time to join the forum properly rather than just lurk. Since the recall for a repeat Hba1C 3 weeks ago I've cut out the processed food and most non-veg carbs and lost 6lbs. Also been much better about exercise than normal. GP appt on Tues, and diabetic nurse appt in mid-April. Glucose meter has been ordered - need to get myself organised so that this thing can be controlled as well as possible for as long as possible.

Hello everyone. I'm a newly diagnosed and slightly intimidated if I'm honest. My T2 is a result of severe acute pancreatitis. or age. Or a history of being fat. We don't know quite yet. I'm 46 and a VP in a large company. Married, two daughters and a bearded collie. The carbohydrate thing is just dawning on me, I had never made the link between carbs and sugar...looks like veg and protein are the way forward. Looking forward to hearing your experiences. Danny

My resilience even when my cup is half empty!

I'm also not fond of the fact that I have a body which is sugar intolerant I was diagnosed with type 1 two and a half years ago and have had lots of emotional ups and downs. I wish I was more of an optimist....

My name is Sheila. I am 67 still working full time as a nurse. I am from UK living in Norfolk, not very religious but have my own beliefs.
I am quiet, calm and compassionate.
I have two cats, two indoor goldfish and about 50 in the pond.

Like watching motor sports an athletics, but cant swim and not much good at sport or exercise as I am very overweight.
I rarely get angry but sometimes very frustrated.
Like heavy metal, hard rock but other stuff as well.
Used to have a trailer tent when my husband was alive, loved camping then.

Deperate to lose weight, and finally beginning to get there, although still very overweight I am the thinnest I have been for abt 15 years.

Most of us on here follow a Low Carb High Fat diet. The reduced carbs to lower the BS the fat to replace the carbs, we all seem to be able to lose weight on this diet and the Cholesterol does well too.

Xpert Health contracted to the NHS for diabetics have just produced a book saying that all diabetics should be on a LCHF diet.

You say you are feeling dizzy do you know what your numbers are, and are you testing, and can you give us an idea of what you are eating on an average day.
