Is there an app that can help estimate IOB? I'm sick of guess work, particularly at bed time

"5.8, but bolus was 3 hours ok so still *some* IOB..... So small snack? Maybe medium just to be safe...." Etc is getting on my nerves!

that would all depend on the profile you assume for the insulin action.

I think you're on Novorapid aren't you? Which has a very quick profile. If you've read Think Like a Pancreas he offers several methods of estimating.

With NovorapidI think a straight line 25% per hour would probably overestimate IOB. One of the profiles he suggests is
1hr - 40% used, 60% left
2hr - another 30% used, 30% left
3hr - another 20% used, 10% left
4hr - all over

You could try that as an easy ready reckoner

Before the pump I used the above rules of 25% and hour............for me though I seen it as simply, my insulin lasting 4 hours...........I confirmed this with testing, it wasn't spot on 4 but near enough......

If you can work out how long your insulin lasts, then working out what will be left is pretty straight forward from then on........

Sadly don't own a tablet but I might try that iHs!

Yeah I've read the TLAP which is where I started trying to estimate from, but with my obscurely small doses it gets confusing doing it in my head lol

I was only thinking last night (whilst laying awake listening to the storm going on outside), that I don't know what I'd do without the IOB info on my pump. I did without it for so long and now I refer to it several times each day. If there isn't an APP then someone could make an awful lot of money designing one.

I guess IOB is so personal that no one has looked at it.

I've found an app but I'm not really a huge fan of it
