Is eventual reversal of T2 damage possible?

Hi, I am a T2 diabetic aged 71 with blood sugar around 6.8 mmol/L. I am fairly aggressively reducing my weight and am optimistic that I can reduce my blood sugar level further. If I am able to get myself back into a normal range of say 5.4 or lower, will the known damage already done to my body e.g. neuropathy, reverse and will my body tissues, nerves etc. revert to normal over time?

Unfortunately, I think nerve damage is permanent. However, by getting your BGL into the desired range as much as possible - you should be able to hold off any further damage and further diabetes related complications.
