Is it O.K. to smoke?

Hi guys I'm s type 1 diabetic and I smoke. I was wondering if it's just me and what are everyone's thoughts about it?

Hi. When my dad was diagnosed he was a smoker, he was put through an intensive course by his HCP in order to give up on the advice that it would lead to future limb amputations if he didn't.

That was 16 years ago so how much of that still stands I don't know, but I'm pretty sure smoking when type 1 is not advisable.

Well apart from the obvious smoking is bad for you (I'm a smoker) it's not thought to be good for diabetes.

Agree. It's not advisable .
There's a good few who have posted about quitting on the forums, including switching to eCigs

Well you certainly aren't the first or only underage smoker in the world, but hopefully diabetes can help give you the incentive and boost to give up now

Yeah my girlfriend has been trying to stop with me she's so supportive but I though mabey just asking yous would be smart

Ecigs aren't that good either.
Try to stop smoking while you are still young enough for it not to have caused damage.

Well I could tell you horror stories, but simply smoking can cause damage to blood vessels, and when you have diabetes it is important to keep your blood circulating well.

Well then, ask the diabetes specialists what they think. Oh and mention the vodka you reported you drink on another thread.
