Is it possible to have "normal" readings for a couple of days but still be diabetic?

Hi I have posted at the weekend in LADA section but basically I have Lupus, hereditary high cholesterol. 8.5 stone. Had some hypo's for the last 15 yrs or so but started getting more frequent. started testing BG thinking it would be low but was quite shocked at the high readings. Highest random was 24, lowest reading taken by a paramedic (who was there for another reason) was 3.2. Fasting BG in morning is 6.9. 2 hours post food around 8 or 9. 4.5 before food. Tests are being run on Thurs this week.
I do have quite a few related symptoms......however..... today, apart from this morning at 6.9 all readings have been totally "normal" Before lunch was 5.4. 2 hours after lunch 5.4 which of course is great but my question is
Taking into account the previous two weeks readings, is it possible to have a couple of normal days of readings but still be diabetic.
thank you so much in advance and hope I have made some sense.

If you've been diagnosed, then you're still diabetic

I have had normal results for over a year - I am still diabetic as if I were to eat more carbs than I can cope with everything would start to go higher again.
I can now eat more carbs without spiking - my body just stores away the glucose as fat to get me through the next ice age. I am happy to eat apples off the trees in the garden (golden delicious apples ripened on the tree to fully golden are - delicious, but very sweet) but I do not buy apples so if there are no apples on my trees, I do not have any that year.
A few months after diagnosis I had symptoms of RH as I was eating at the wrong times to keep me stable. I now eat morning and evening with my main amount of carbs in the evening.

In order to be classed as in remission or reversed, you have to have an HbA1c in the normal range for at least a year, possibly longer, without the aid of medication.

Your numbers reflect what you have eaten. What was your last HbA1c? Are you on any diabetes medications?

Hi and thank you all for replies. I am undiagnosed. My GP is running a battery of tests on thurs this week. I was just confused as the last two weeks I have had high BG readings and still eating the same food today they have all been normal around 5.4. so apart from this morning on waking at 6.9 all others ok. Does this mean it cant possibly be diabetes as I am "normal" today

I suggest you wait for the results of this battery of tests. As has been said 'Once a Diabetic Always a Diabetic'.

We can't answer this. You need the HbA1c test. After you have the test results please come back and let us know how you got on.

How high readings have you had? For what reason did your GP start to check you for diabetes?

It is hard to give help without knowing how your blood sugar are when it is not «normal» :)

Hi Emile and thank you. the highest "random" reading was 24, self tested. On average I am around 6 before meals and still around 12, 2 hours after eating. 12 months ago I had an ambulance at home due to pleurisy and was tested at 3.2, he made me a cup of tea with sugar in and 5 mins later was 12. Paramedic thought this wasnt normal and suggested I contact my GP. Sadly my husband had a life changing accident and I have been caring for him so didnt follow up. I went to the doctor this week after 2 weeks of testing at home and he has ordered tests for this week.
