Is low carb diet worth it

It really depends on you it is not a.. one size fits all... diet you just have to try it and see

Low carb higher fat has to be ones individual dietary lifestyle.
It has to be this way because of different intolerance to types of foods.
It has a lot to do with budget, availability and other medical conditions.

For me, it has given me my life back!

I do agree that some of the LCHF blogs and articles have a certain zeal. However, what really appeals to me is that I don't feel hungry all the time, even with IF. This means that it is something that is sustainable, at least for me.

Well, on the negative side:
  • Can't partake in the constant sharing of cakes/biscuits at work - feel tempted and left out
  • Very limited where I am with lunch takeaway food, so have to bring in food or spend whole lunch hour getting to Subway and back
  • At festivals, while every other kind of fussy eater was catered for (Vegan, Gluten Free, Non-Dairy etc), only one stall had low carb option.
  • If eating sweets, sugar-free ones make you feel like John Hurt in Alien
  • Very difficult at mealtimes when kids want normal food and you have to do extra cooking options
  • More expensive food generally
  • Requires more time and creativity to thrive on LCHF diet.
  • have become evangelical and bore people to death at the slightest opportunity about LCHF. Have to resist stopping fat people in the street and telling them the good news.
  • now having to take pension arrangements seriously

Though on the positive side
  • reduced fear of amputations, heart failure, blindness, kidney failure, erectile dysfunction and dementia.
  • higher energy levels mean exercise is fun and you get into a virtuous circle of healthy behaviour
  • now have a Greek God-like physique (according to wife) and subsequently far more rampant sex (see above)
  • can eat cheese until the cows come home, any diet that allows this is by my reckoning superfine.
  • near constant euphoria (see above points)
  • vastly fewer drugs needed
  • no hunger pangs involved.
  • probably won't ever need to inject insulin
