Hello I've seen a lot of talk about the 'NovoPen Echo' on the forum lately and was wondering if it is available free on prescription for adults? Or would I have to buy one myself? Either way I think that this would be ideal for me as I'm always forgetting if I've injected my insulin or not. Many thanks :)

Yes it is. Just ask your GP to make out a prescription.with the appropriate penfill cartiridges. Note you need to use Levemir and Novorapid for these pens on MDI.

I wouldn't expect any insulin delivery device to not be free on prescription, apart form a pump....:).....

ask your team if they can get one for you too.....that would be my first port of call...

Many thanks for your reply's. Oh good I'm pleased that it will be free on prescription !! :) I'm on Novorapid flex pen at the moment so it shouldn't be a problem to change over. Is 'Levemir' the same as 'Lantus' or is it totally different? I'm asking to see if I could get the pen for my 'Lantus' as well? That would be a great bonus :)

Hi. Lantus can't be used with Echo pen. You can only use Levimir and Novo rapid cartridges.

I get it no problems on prescription. As well has remembering the last dose it can also deliver half unit doses.

Received two Echo pens a couple of days ago on prescription. I also had problems remembering when and how much insulin I had injected. I was told they were originally meant for children but they're great for me and my failing memory too.
