Is there an alternative to Metformin?

I tried metformin fir two years off and in
ex release type , just misery , couldn't leave house . two months ago i went on Januvia 50 m a day , still take glyburide 10 m x 2 a day. januvia has made huge difference , no side effects that i feel .

Must be lucky. No problems on metformin. Been on slow release for some 12 months now. Evidently they are more expensive than the others so they prescribe them first before the slow release ones In uk
