HI DEARS , noosrat here i wonder if there is any low carb chocolate that a diab of type 1 can take? soemtimes after each meal i crave for somethng sweet and i long for a choco! :( can anyone suggest me an alternative to chocolate? or how to hate choco? and if ever i took one how much can i take? how many small squares?

Have you tried a very very dark Choc, like 85% or 90% version? Some have less than 21% Carbs.

I sometimes have 2 squares (4.2g Carbs, 3g Sugar) with a few Almonds - doesn't affect my BG.. (tho' I'm T2, so not sure how it varies for a T1).

hope that helps a bit :)

Diabetic chocolate - there are other issues with it (laxative effects...) but it is very low in carbs if you don't like the dark varieties which would be convenient if you wanted to have chocolate with e.g. a cup of tea without injecting insulin.

Otherwise, if you are having it with your meals you should just be able to adjust your insulin to cover regular chocolate.

High cocoa solids chocolate, eat just a SMALL bit. Read the panel on the back of the pack

Hi. I have Green & Blacks 85% Dark. It's very low in carbs, probably the lowest, and doesn't have any sugar alcohols added. I wait until it goes on special at the supermarkets. It's not the cheapest 85% but the smoothest.
