Was looking up something on the net and I came across this site with some info that seems rather odd
http://www.myvits.com/pancreas-insulin/vitamins.aspx
A diet consistently high in sugar and other refined sweets will first lead to hypertrophy of the beta cells ( to increase insulin production) and eventual burnout, with diabetes being a possible result.

Causes of Pancreas Malfunction

2) Caffeine, chocolate, smoking, alcohol, marijuana, will have similar results as concentrated sweets.

and this is just plain weird

Treatment and Prevention of Pancreas Malfunction
In adult onset diabetes a fast for 4-7 days followed by the before mentioned diet will often partially or totally bring down elevated blood sugar. This should be done only under a doctor’s supervision.
) Rub vigorously 1 minute daily every other day a point between the 7th and 8th ribs on the left where the ribs and cartilage meet (see Appendix B).

Fascinating! (But I couldn't find Appendix B!!!)

I've got a small, fatty lump between my 7th and 8th ribs on the left hand side...

I've always had it, and no-one can tell me what it is.

I'll be doing some research this weekend!

Looks like hokum to me - especially this bit "Keep your stress level low, pray." What's that got to do with pancreatic function?

Just on the prayer bit - I had a quick search for clinical studies on the effectiveness of prayer and found this;

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16569567

Which basically says if you have a heart condition and people pray for you and you know about that; then you are more likely to suffer further complications than if they don't or you don't know about it...

Bit mean of God don't you think..?

Dillinger

perhaps people equate having a person pray for them as an indication of how serious their condition is, like having the Grim Reaper in the room?

Oh a rare occasions I agree with Dillinger that a lot of hokum...

Written by somebody who's more interested in selling you supplements than the actual factual side of the of what's happening

Well... stress will result in increased cortisol levels, and thus blood glucose, so if you find prayer relaxing it might actually help. The author, presumably, assumed that everyone found prayer supremely relaxing.
