Issue with Libre - blank screen

Okay, working with what everyone has said I turned off Libre's alarms and bluetooth. I then installed Shuggah and set it up in the normal way. Shuggah is working perfectly and transmitting to my watch and Libre will scan manually and give readings, it will also download my Novopen doses. Crunch may come at the next sensor change in eleven day's time. I think that the answer is to have only one app blue tooth connected at any one time. Sooooooo I will disconnect Shuggah and turn off its blue tooth connection. I will then turn on Libre's bluetooth connection but not the alarms, fit the new sensor and start it with Libre. I will wait the required hour and when Libre says that it the sensor is active I will turn off Libre's bluetooth and turn on Shuggah's and connect the sensor to Shuggah. It may prove difficult to do all of this with my fingers crossed. I will report again after the next sensor change. Can anyone see a problem with my idea?

Have you installed the new update for iOS because I did and I don't have any problems with it and since I got the first problem I got in touch with Freestyle Libre and told them what happened and the next day the new update came out version 2.10.1 and it works fine just make sure that your phone has the latest updates as well and it should work fine for you all without a blank screen

I think we are all working with the latest iOS version. I certainly am and Libre has worked perfectly. The trick that I am trying to do is to also receive readings on my smartwatch via Shuggah. In many respects Shuggah and Libre will not work together.

Kingsmac and Debbiescott, thank you both for those responses. I have emailed Abbott about this but it takes them about a month to respond. Its odd that you truly don't know what you've got until its gone but I miss the regular readings on my watch that Shuggah gave. I am trying to work out a way of maintaining the Shuggah type of service without causing LibreLink to falter or fail. Abbott have sent me a Libre Reader and I wondered if the way forward might be to remove LibreLink from my iPhone altogether, install Shuggah and use the reader to start the sensor at each change over. My fear over that idea is that Shuggah needs the bluetooth connection with the sensor and I think that it is LibreLink that establishes the bluetooth link between a new sensor and iPhone. The reader does not use bluetooth and I may find that I have no CGM readings at all and therefore no readings sent to my watch. In addition to that without Librelink on the iPhone I will not be able to recover records from LibreView. Kingsmac, the situation that you describe is what I also had but it all went wrong with the sensor change before last. After uninstalling both Shuggah and LibreLink and then reinstalling LibreLink alone the last sensor and LibreLink worked exactly as it should. Following the sensor change two days ago the system still works as it should. I should be grateful if you would carefully note exactly what you do on Sunday's sensor change and the outcome and let us know that would be of great help in deciding how to proceed. I suspect that there is a way of maintaining the Shuggah type of notifications to a smartwatch without wrecking LibreLink and I think that our co-operation over this forum could find the answer.

So today I changed my sensor and decided that I would continue running Librelink without Bluetooth and just scanning regularly and with Shuggah Bluetooth turned on would use that for alarms and regular notifications to my smartwatch. I used my iPhone to activate my new sensor while keeping my old sensor also on my arm. I still had LibreLink Bluetooth turned off and the new sensor activated straight away. While I waited for the hour to pass, the old sensor still gave perfect readings on Shuggah. When the hour was up, LibreLink worked for scanning as expected since Bluetooth was off. Much to my surprise, I discovered that Shuggah was still obtaining readings from the old sensor. I checked this by looking at the sensor number in ‘about’ in LibreLink, and comparing this with the sensor shown in Shuggah to be connected via Bluetooth. Astonishingly, the old sensor carried on working for 14 hours before it finally packed up! At this point, I used Shuggah to scan the new sensor and it connected up without any difficulty. I do now know that, after a successful scan in Shuggah, you must be very patient while it says ‘scanning’ as it takes a few minutes before the connection is completed. I am now back in my usual situation of Librelink working via scanning and Shuggah working perfectly, which means it is sending regular data to my smartwatch according to the notification interval that I have set which is 5 minutes and then 20 minutes overnight. I am very happy with this, so I’m going to continue with this configuration for the foreseeable future. It certainly amazed me that the old sensor continued for so long to provide data both to my phone, Shuggah and my smartwatch. Also interesting was that for quite a few hours the readings on Librelink were 2 to 3 mmol above Shuggah and fingerpricks, even though I had put my new sensor on my other arm a whole day before activating it.

Kingsmac, that's great. It looks like you have already used the scheme that I was thinking about and it worked. The difference is, if I have correctly understood what you have said, that you never turned on the bluetooth for LibreLink. Have I got that right?

I make sure I enter all my carb intake, insulin injections and exercise in LibreLink and scan regularly throughout the day. I just like using Shuggah for getting the regular BG notifications on my smartwatch; I also prefer Shuggah’s alarms and the fact that it is more accurate most of the time. I also have Shuggah showing BG in the App Badge so it always displays on my phone’s Lock Screen, so I see it every time I ‘open’ my phone. The number of options in Shuggah’s ‘settings’ is also really helpful. Operating this way has given me my best ever BG control and my HbA1c is the lowest it’s ever been at 5.3.

That is exactly what I am doing at the minute. Reading what you say I reckon that that is the way to go in the future. Incidentally, despite my earlier comments about Abbott's response times I have had a reply from them already about using a smartwatch. There is a lot of verbiage there but, when you boil it down, the only notifications that LibreLink creates are the alarms and reminders for sensor change and so that is all that you see on a smartwatch. I think that the scheme that you and I are using is the way ahead and I hope that all of this helps others. A quick reminder for others of what I said a while ago; the smartwatch that I am using is described as a F57L and is available via eBay for around £18.

Mines been playing up this week
I deleted LibreLink & reinstalled it with the Bluetooth turned on, then scanned the sensor in shuggar, now getting readings from both apps with no scanning required, I think it’s when you scan in LibreLink the Bluetooth to shuggar stops working
When changing sensors I delete & reinstall LibreLink, shuggar keeps sending me readings while the new sensor is warming up, only then do I disconnect the old sensor from shuggar & start the new one
This way I continue to get readings to my phone & watch

Yes, I think this will be my last post on this thread too, perhaps we ought to start a new thread, just following how our continued use of both Libre and Shuggah goes on? Yesterday I did another sensor change and followed the routine I have now established, without much difficulty. I put on my new sensor the day before the old one expired and when I activated it the next day, I left Shuggah working for the hour the new sensor needed to start giving readings. This meant I had no gap in my data. Once the new sensor started giving readings, I went into Shuggah and disconnected the old sensor and then connected Shuggah to the new one. This then meant I was back in my now established situation of having to scan in Libre but getting continuous readings from Shuggah, including on my smartwatch. I am very happy with this situation and feel confident now that a sensor change can be comfortably managed. I have Bluetooth, and thus alarms, turned off in Libre, but have it turned on in Shuggah from which I get alarms and notifications. I haven’t changed this set up now in weeks. By scanning every so often with Libre (when injecting or eating, entering injections and carbs along with exercise in Libre) and doing so before sleep and on waking up, I have full data in LibreView.

Yes, I’m having the same problem too. I managed to get through to someone on the phone after being on hold for 2 hours!!!
They have said they updated the app and it’s gone wrong and they have people working on it at the moment. However, they are unsure of when it will be up and running again

Hi, any solution? I am having the same issue. Blank screen. I have Samsung S21 SM-G998B/DS, Android 14, I think the issuewas already in Android 13. Any similarity? I have my doubts with the issue being related to third party apps that can read the sensor such as XDrip...
