Itching rash advice help until I can see diabetic nurse.

Type 2 not well controlled on insulin as could not tolorate diabetic tablets.


I am scrathing and itching skin broken and bleeding! have tried anthistamine creams.Syrup/tablets E45/suda cream/piriton /Allevia. calamineloation. dakacort


I did not associate itching rash with diabeties only via google, so will try and book appointment monday with diabetic nurse.

But until then any tips

Is there anything that makes you think this relates to your diabetes meds?

Of course almost anything can cause an itching. Where is the rash?

in your shoes it’s either be lots of moisturiser or calamine lotion.

In reality, anti-histamines should help calm it. My chap has some stubborn exzema. From time to time he needs antihistamines as well as his prescribed cream.

You could ask a pharmacist about using hydrocortisone cream, you can buy it over the counter.
Bicarbonate of soda added to a lukewarm bath, or diluted in lukewarm water and gently wash with it helped ease the itching for me. Needed to repeat it a few times a day though.

I like the idea of seeing a pharmacist for advice. But I wouldn't necessarily assume that the rash is diabetes related. eg Any chance you've been using new soap, medication, food etc that you could be allergic to? (Disclaimer, I am not a doctor and have no idea what is causing your issue).

It's easy to assume that every ailment you have must be diabetes related, whereas diabetics also get all the random stuff that non diabetics do.
