I felt foul most of yesterday with a stinking headache that just wouldn't quit, despite paracetamol and a walk. I've been doing LCHF all week, with hardly a carb passing my lips, so maybe this was the carb flu I have read about.

I'm certainly not feeling the weight 'dropping off'. so far ( know it's early days but a couple of kilos would have been heartening). Thinking back, in my old Slimming World days I rarely lost on Red Days. Are some people less compatible with low carb diets? I hope not, as calorie counting is not for me.

On the plus side: feeling better today, though still a bit woolly-headed and tired. Discovered riced cauliflower last night and can see that becoming a regular feature on my plate. Even my husband liked it - with his potatoes!

Breakfast seems hardest. Haven't bothered with anything but coffee with sweetener and cream yet. Yesterday's eggs, scrambled with cream and cheese was tasty, but a little nausea-inducing.

Onwards and upwards.

on the bright side, while you're feeling like schite, you aren't getting carb cravings:wacky:
I didn't like the first 2 weeks and ate coconut block/oil by the spoon, drink lots and a bit more salt in your diet than usual

You ate coconut oil by the spoon? No wonder you didn't like the first 2 weeks! Eeeek! I won't scrimp on it next time I cook something Thai-ish though. I hope I don't kill my husband by feeding him these things and adding carbs for him.

You need to drink gallons! Really! Didn't realise this. Felt dizzy first couple of weeks but it goes. I used to be just coffee too but make the change. I have 1 egg and 1 sausage. At first you think - no more eggs! But just like cereal or toast, you get used to it. It fills you up and I don't snack between brekkie and lunch coz I don't need to. This week I've put on a pound but I am going down with a cold. I tend to do a tapas style lunch or Greek yoghurt and blueberries. Snack at 3 is a handful of nuts. Dinner is great. Really easy. I have posted up some of our recipes under Scandis recipes. Some people lose loads and some people lose a couple of lbs a week. As long as you lose, you win!

it was either coconut block/oil or self flagellation to take my mind off it, I had bad carb cravings for the first few days.
It all depends how well you 2 are getting on whether high fat and high carbs is a good idea, If he's a keeper you could cut the carbs back a bit

Thanks Scandichic. I'm rarely conscious of thirst. 2-3 cups of coffee a day is usually my lot, very little water, no fizzy drinks and seldom alcohol. I must have been getting most of my fluids from food as I have quite good skin, not dry at all. I'll try harder with the water.

I think self flagellation might be another thread - maybe even another site! I don't have 'I would kill for a piece of bread' cravings - I've had to be careful with wheat for a while because of IBS anyway - but the dinner plate looks a bit bare without potato, rice or pasta.

As for the husband, he's still making me go doe-eyed after 30 years, so I think I'll try and keep him around a while yet.

If you don't drink enough then my understanding is that you end up with water retention (if I'm wrong please tell me, everyone) so you struggle to lose. Try and aim for 10 glasses! I know it's lots but....

Hey well done :) I'm sure your unpleasant feelings will pass soon :) yes drinking lots of water is a great idea, force it down if you have to, strangely and this may only be me but try drinking through a straw, i find it easier to drink plenty this way, LCHF is brilliant for blood sugars and weight loss so don't get disheartened, your doing your whole self a power of good, keep at it, and let us know how its going please

Hi Helsin, I felt pretty awful for the first week or so, but it does wear off. Your weight will soon start to drop off, I lost on average about 2lbs a week withoug even trying. I am also following the LCHF so just be patient until your body get used to your new diet. You are doing really well so don't be disheartened. You have come to the right place for support and encouragement so stick with it and let us know how you get on.

Good luck

Marilyn
