It is no wonder so many people on here are scared and in some cases terrified of diabetes or becoming diabetic. Reading through the flood of recent "Newsbot" posts it seems like fear mongering.

Having diabetes really isn't that big of a deal, unless you let it become one. Granted a few lifestyle changes are in order, some self education and maybe a little will power if your a chocoholic

But the changes made are beneficial to you anyway, he'll they are beneficial regardless, whether you have diabetes or not.

People really need to break out of their bubble wrap and enjoy life while you have it to live, stop worrying about this and that and just get on with your life, enjoy it!

I'll probably get a lot of hate directed at me for this post, which is fine, but sometimes you just have to suck it up and laugh.

Diabetes is your friend, it just means your a very sweet person..

Chin up, it's not like you've been condemned to an iron lung for the rest of your life. Now that really would suck!

Have a great day and stay out of my bread bin, I have a chicken sandwich cued up for later..

Hi. In many ways you are right but with so much ignorance around and surgeries who provide little info at diagnosis you can understand that people are scared thru ignorance and need our assistance.

I like being here but I feel the pressure of those constantly pushing the LCHF diet, which in my case is not to be recommended, well at least the high fat part. To get your fingers rapped for eating a tea biscuit is absurd.

However I am mindful that so far after 16 years of diagnosis, I have no physical symptoms but also that many do and are in dreadful pain. They need the support, advice and resultant virtual hugs!

I should be grasping life a little bit more by going out more often while I can and not be stuck in front of a computer!

Hi,
Do you realy feel like your fingers have been rapped for the biscuit?

@asparagusp The forum low carb program is up to 130g carbs. We're all different and many people here have other health conditions to consider too when they choose their diet, so members follow a range of different regimes.

As often said - one size doesn't fit all

Our ultimate aim is obviously to get good control, so Eat To Your Meter is good guidance

Any members who feel posts are inappropriate or bullying, can report them using the Report button in the post and they'll be looked at by the forum mods and admin

Azure I realise that everyone is different and yes I agree that eating to the meter is the way to go! Thanks for reminding me about the Report button!

So what you're saying is that anyone who posts on here in an attempt to help a fellow diabetic is wasting their time, because it's 'no big deal'?

So why do you keep posting?

Diabetes has cost me jobs. Diabetes management costs me lots of money. Diabetes has left me semi-concious on the floor. Diabetes has stopped me enjoying things that other people take for granted. Reading about diabetes for years told me that it would take 20 years off my life expectancy. Break out of my bubble wrap?

That's not what's being said. You have to exercise caution when replying and not take the moral high ground.

@mist I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of newsbot posts. I wonder if he can be blocked.

Thanks for the warning about your bread bin, btw.

@mist A short while ago I bumped into as in met in the street a guy I had been in hospital with he had just recently had a big toe amputated due to diabetic complications and was lucky not to have lost the whole foot, you may consider it no big deal but I assure you he did.

Blimey! I see @mist as a "cup half full" kindof guy..

I complained about the cold.. Then saw a guy with no shirt.

I do wonder if you are in fact a diabetic. You are so blase about the disease.

Don't choke on that sandwich now will you.
You obviously missed mist's fairly recent post describing his frustration with his condition and the desire to end it all. I can't remember it's title.

I think he's bi polar which means he can go from one extreme to the other quickly. Please bear that in mind.

It's very difficult to imagine physical pain John if you don't have it or don;t know anyone who has. Today mist is coming across as full of the joys of spring but see my post above. Tomorrow maybe not so.

Of course Mahola. Don't I know it! However I view everyone here hopefully as my friend, not just mist. I have explained above why I think mist is bona fide.

Some posts have been edited due to their content.

Mist is complaining about the doom and gloom he sees in some of the posts from the NewsBot.
Whether you agree with him or not, please do not resort to offensive remarks

Dont read them if they bother you its your choice
Obviously. I think the newsbot was always active in the news section of the forum, but he did not feature on the "recent posts" page. The general chat no longer appears on the recent posts so there must have been a rejig.
