Haha, the 5% retaliates! Who would have thought
Ok, here we go.

People come on here and ask for advice.
Well, obviously. This thread however serve no purpose other than to spin us all some banal anecdote about Hana's day. As I've come to expect by now from Hana's threads, in amongst the banality is a self-validating swipe at anyone who would dare to believe that a BG of 8.2 is 'ok'. In fact, her entire post pivots around the fact that she was so annoyed at having a BG level of 8.2 that she felt the need to come on here and tell us all about it! Is this helpful? No. Is this advice? No. All it does is undermine the diabetics out there who would be happy to get an 8.2. As I mentioned in my post, I am sure Kathleen would be bloody delighted to get an 8.2 right now. I feel like considering two other people have already commented about how strict Hana's regime seems to be simply backs up this point.
@ Hana,
I find myself continually hacked off by the 5% club's absolute intolerance for anyone who doesn't adhere to the regime. Yeah, it's all very well of you to sit there and say "everyone's got a choice to make" when the reality of it is that you're so evagelical about the choice
you've made that you feel the need to tell us about it every five minutes. Go and get a blog or something.

Newly diagnosed Diabetics get a load of scary information, often from the HCPs. Surely it helps them to see that their condition is controlable.
You're right. They do get a lot of scary information. What I find equally as scary is the thought of being discharged, coming on here to find out more and being told that I am destined for doom unless I get my levels to non-diabetic levels. Newbies need to be eased in, not smacked with your opinions. I can strike similarities with relgious sects proclaiming "If you don't believe, you're going to hell!". Fact or fiction, you need to accept that some people, regardless of the facts, will make choices that you wouldn't necessarily make.

I just make sure my Bg levels are well controlled so that I can avoid the complications. Do you want to get them ?
And what is that supposed to mean? What has this got to do with me? We're not talking about my control here. My control is fine, thank you very much. Like you, I'm low-GI restricted carbs. I like to educate people about my control, I don't
ram it down their throats.
