I've said for a long time the food industry is seriously corrupt.

It's absolutely disgusting how Dr Atkins original work has been corrupted by the corporation that pretends it has anything to do with his message :jimlad:

When we first moved here there was an elderly butcher in the village. When he retired apparently his shop would have needed serious refurbishing to meet current standards (I don't quite understand this logic!:wideyed:), so there were no takers for it and it was converted and sold as a house.

My husband's always considered convenience and cost over quality for the most part so we tend to end up with a compromise. He's budget holder and chief shopper so I don't always get much choice... But I definitely would not touch most so called low carb foodstuffs with a barge pole, and it worries me that some people here do choose to eat these things

Probably rat proofing.

What about halal butchers? What if they are the only available butchers in the local area, what then? I take on board some of the comments but the simplistic ways suggested - eat less meat - isn't that easy. Even the smallest amount of organic meat can take a considerable chunk out of the budget of a family who may, for example, be on benefits. It's not as easy as its being made out to be.

Sometimes it's easy to forget not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to afford to choose the types of food, and to frequent the places the less well off couldn't ever set foot in.
