Joint Pains

Hi,

This is my first post and would llike to know if anyone can answer my question. I am on loads of medication: Byettta x 2 daily, Metformin 850g x 3, Novarapid Insuln 50mls x 3, Lantus Glargine 120ml x 1, Ramopril 10mg x 1, Amlodopine 10mg x 1, Rosuvastatin x 5mg x 1, Ferrous Sulphate 220g x 3, Lansoprasole 30g x 1. Recently, I have started to suffer from joint panis in the upper part of my body (shoulder joints, wrists, fingers) to the point where I can't sleep on my side anymore. Has anyone else suffered from these symptoms while taking any of these medications. I have been Type 2 diabetic for 10 years and have been on Metformin and insulin from the beginning but the other drugs have been introduced in the last year. Any idea what could be causing the pains?

There are many of the drugs that MAY be responsible for the joint pains you are experiencing. It isn't always Statin's that cause people problems !

I suggest that you go back to your GP or Consultant and discuss this with him/her.

Ken.

As Ken says it could well be drug related, but best to get these symptom's checked out by your gp. I have shoulder problems myself, but is unrelated to my diabetes or any meds that I take, but there does seem to be a connection between diabetes and shoulder related conditions, mainly frozen shoulder as the following article explains:

Hi

When you do speak with your GP try directing them towards the statins that you are taking, they have caused joint pains for me!
Good luck

Hi
Your joint pains could also be caused by Lantus, notorious for causing such probs. There's a few threads on this forum, and a google search could be enlightening.

I suffer with joint pains and don't take any of the above! I have reactive hypoglycemia and I am only borderline diabetic. some time my hip (the side I sleep on) is so stiff I can't get out of bed.

does any one have any ideas. !!!!

Hi Fliss
I also have joint pains and the doctors just tells me i am getting older and should expect it and it is probably RSI. I swapped from Lantus to Levimir earlier this year to see if it was Lantus causing it but it has got worse not better. I know i have RSI in my right arm but thsi does nto expain the other wrist and fingers and large joint of toe etc. I have had a blood test for arthritis which was clear.
This does not help you at all really :? other than to share :D but hopefully someone can reply to us both with some answers???

We cannot give answers as none of us here are experts.........you must both discuss this with your GP or get a referral to a Specialist. Any answers you may be given by any members here are just guesses.....nothing more.
