i have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes an I need a blood sugar monitor for free does anyone know where or how I can get one

Many Type 2s use the SD Codefree. Let me tag some people for you as they'll have more information. It's not free but it's cheap for the strips.

Hi @Kayleighnuckley many companies will give away monitors for free. The cost is in the strips which are generally expensive (£25 per 50). This is why many of us use the SD code free meter as mentioned by @azure. This meter is cheap (about £6) but more importantly the strips are about £7 per 50 or cheaper still if you buy in bulk.

You will see many free meters, but the testing strips never come free. They can be very expensive, so you need to check that before you order a free one. The Codefree has the cheapest strips at under £6 for 50 if you buy in bulk.

Pharmacies don't sell them, and don’t forget to declare you are diabetic in order to avoid any VAT.

@Kayleighnuckley I used a free meter for a while and paid a high price for strips - the meter mentioned above is very good, if you have to self fund I can recommend it
