Just Got my Casual "Oh your blood test showed prediabetes"

Thank you Sarge Maximus. Very helpful. Is there a place (list) somewhere that has all these bad (secret) carby things plse? I am allergic/ sensitive to many additives (ingredients with ‘e’ and numbers after). An app tells me what each ‘e’ means - but doesn’t include explanations of all these things that you helpfully point out are carbs by any other name. Now 3 weeks into low carb and keeping my BG mostly in range of ‘normal’ and some troubling symptoms already diminishing. Thank you all. In Oz ‘gluten free’ or ‘sugar free’ usually means loads of bad ‘e’ ingredients anyway.

Spent all day playing video games and eating non stop. Couldn’t hit my target. No idea how I’ll manage when I’m working

Update: Cheese is a non-option. My nose gets plugged up with mucous after eating it

Update: First day back at work and on KETO

The weather was below freezing with wet snow.

I had adaquate weather gear for years in past but today I couldnt seem to get warm and my head was hurting and got a bit dizzy. But at some point my body seemed to snap out of it and I got alert and less dizzy. Not sure if thats a good thing since I've heard that hypothermia can be the opposite of cold jjust before you die.

Anyhow, I'll try to make some keto snacks to munch on for future. We quit early because of the weather.

Hi there ,a bit of encouragement , I to was told I was pre diabetic many months maybe years ago which meant nothing to me and given no advise as to what it meant , Then approximately a month ago after a blood test I was advised I diabetic,
which completely through me , as I knew nothing about it apart from the fact it had something to do with sugar.
I was advised by a friend to contact this site , where I bared all my ignorance, and found soo much help re a low carb diet , and question to ask at my first meeting with the nurse , which I full took to , and this week was told I was no longer diabetic, but back to pre diabetic, with a long way to go as still 42 , but determined to get down to one number,
and it’s all thanks to peoples help on here, so a big THANK YOU TO YOU ALL

That is encouraging. I’m going. A bit crazy here as today I was also diagnosed with arthritis (I’m only 35!!). My body appears to be in rough shape, but with my dietary constrictions, I fear my issues will get worse, not better.

Anyone ever see this? https://www.nps.org.au/news/can-vit...es postprandial,a randomized cross-over trial.

I’m trying to find ways to fix all these issues from the root. I don’t want to manage arthritis pain, I want to heal my bones and joints, as an example.

Seeing that you've got so many issues around food, taking vitamins is a good step imo.

You should be ok with water soluble vitamins as any overdose will be flushed out of your system, overdosing on fat soluble ones could cause problems as they hang around your system if they're not used and could worsen some of your conditions with toxicity, so you'll need to stick to recommended doses of those. You could organise a blood test if you're worried about deficiency.

Were I not on Ignore, I would ask which sort of arthritis the OP has been diagnosed with.

I have osteo-arthritis, but have very limited pain relief options, so have tried, with a degree of success using chilli, as found in Capsaicin. This was recommended to me by the rheumatologist.

I’ve thought of this and it was a lightbulb moment for me that maybe, just maybe, all these issues can be tied to my lack of vitamins due to my diet restrictions. I started taking 1000mg Vitamin C last night and began sweating profusely afterwards.

I’m not too worried about B vitamins as I eat a small piece of liver every two days. I don’t wanna overdose on the fat soluble as you say but should I get my b vitamins in suppliment form as well?

I eat plenty of protein, but I do take a multi vit B. Don't think it could do any harm if you take it, they're good for your nerves so they just might just help your anxieties.

Liver has B12 and A. It doesn't have the other B vitamins. Vitamin A is fat soluble and it's possible to overdose on it. The NHS website says "liver and liver products such as liver pâté – this is a particularly rich source of vitamin A, so you may be at risk of having too much vitamin A if you have it more than once a week"

I’d rather cure my body than my anxiety

Not sure you can separate them
I disagree.

Update for today: felt better but physically I was sluggish and weak.

My head felt clear and I had a good even sense of well being but when I walked around at work or tried lifting thins I was noticeably sluggish and weak. Had 1 small (maybe 1/8th of a whole) sweet potato slice, the rest was all Keto friendly foods including macadamia nuts which are supposed to be less allergenic than others.

I just don’t know what to eat, I’m allergic or can’t tolerate most things it’s quite insane.

When I was home and sitting playing games like I normally do my back was killing me more than normal. So something is more agitated today

Update: didn’t eat enough today. was sluggish and limping through the day all day. Also, my strength was just gone. Lifting even things I normally lift seemed to require a whole body effort.

I have doubled my food for
Tomorrow. Hopefully that improves things. According to my food app, I will get most of my calories by lunch time so I may hit my goal tomorrow.

Nutritional ketosis is safe and decidedly healthy for type 2's and prediabetics. Ketoacidosis is potentially deadly, and would require a perfect storm of extremely high blood sugars, illness and likely, certain medication you're 100% certainly not on right now, for it to happen in a T2. For a T1 it's something they need to be weary of, yeah, because they don't need an unlikely perfect storm for things to go t*ts up.

Two completely different things, though they might sound the same. You're freaking yourself out when there's no need to. You might want to stop doing that.
