Just moved to the uk

Hi all my name is Suzannah I am a type 1 diabetic who has just moved to the uk. I am travelling around the country before starting my new job. This unfortunately means for the first part of my time in the uk I don’t have a permanent address or am in one place long enough to see a gp because of the average 3-5 week wait time. I am eventually going to need more supplies does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to help with this ?

If you are lawfully and permanently (generally for the next six months plus) in the country then you're entitled to use the NHS. Every primary care health care organisation in England is supposed to commission a primary care service for people who are passing through, not (yet) registered with a local GP, etc. The exact nature of that service will vary from place to place, depending on what local arrangements have been made. I'd expect to find more comprehensive arrangements in large urban areas with a lot of turnover than in small towns.

Primary care services - eg GP practices and pharmacists - should know how patients should get in touch with these services. It might be worth ringing ahead, if you're going to be moving about, and having some evidence that shows you will be staying permanently.
 
Hi @suzannah_wilson, I see from your profile that you're a pump user. A GP won't be able to supply or give you a prescription for pump consumables, you'd have to be referred to a hospital clinic (by a GP) for that, and then the clinic would have to agree to fund your pump and then apply for the funding.

Where are you moving from, if you don't mind me asking? I will be returning to North Wales and taking UK residency ( I am originally from the UK, but I also hold Canadian citizenship). Hopefully my return will be in the next year or so, but still splitting my time between Wales and Newfoundland and Labrador. Despite what folks say about the NHS it's a far better health provider than a lot of other places.

I’m from New Zealand so our health system is pretty good !!
