Just my luck. lol!

The first two libre 2 I tried ( it’s not a permanent feature) I had on more outside but still underneath arm. But I found it caught more when in the car and reaching to back seat etc.
This time I put underneath arm so more flat against body and whilst in car was better I did get a few very low readings at night so assuming compression lows.
So a bit of a nightmare as to where to put it really.

So, got my Freestyle Libre 2 training yesterday, simple, painless, and set up during the call.

Anyhoo, the numbers were a bit low but I knew it wouldn't be a direct match so didn't think much of it, then it said I was dropping into a potential hypo.

Bit worrying as I don't normally go that low but I went and grabbed something to stave off any issues (Hmm, carby goodness, *drool* ;) ).

Tested about 40 mins later and still saying it was high 3s, so said "screw this" and got out my glucose meter.

7.8

Turns out after talking to Abbott I have a faulty unit. Well, at least it wasn't hypos!

Hi,

The "bit low" numbers prior to the sensor saying you had dropped. Did you check with your meter.?
In my experience the Libre (1& 2.) is quite slow at recovering readings from a low. The meter can say I've recovered whilst the Libre suggests I'm still low around 40 minutes later.. I always back up lows or any wayward BGs using the meter.

As for the whole "bedding in" thing. Mine seems to work pretty well from the off. The L2 performance a lot better than the MK1 in the past getting the scatty readings at the beginning & end of life.

A comparison test against a calibrated NHS issue meter is a good idea. Lol, mine reads 15% higher. Even in comparison, my lab A1c romps in lower by the same approx percentage than my estimated app A1c..

If you need Libreview for your HCP team? A decent third party app that can/should run alongside it on your device (I use Android.) with a calibration option & alarms is "Diabox." Which maybe a compromise..

So a little update.

Spoke to the area diabetic nurse and basically they said don't worry about it. Lol!

They said that they've heard of people being up to 6mmol off target with it and they really only want to monitor trends with it than the actual numbers.

So if I can find a way to calibrate it better so I can use it for general monitoring I will, if not then I just scan when I do a BG test just to keep the docs happy and keep on going as I am.

Well that's interesting because I was told (along with many other insulin users) that it is to be used to determine insulin dosage in the same way that you would with a finger prick test. I love my libre so I'm not moaning but they have reduced the test strips to the barest minimum so it's rely on the libre or nothing basically.

Hmmm think sitting didnt
in car all day with trousers on it might catch.
I’ve put this one in between the two so hopefully not as far in to get compressed and not far enough out to catch

I may not have explained the location well but it's the recommended location where I've been putting my dexcom for the last year. No issue with catching or (surprisingly) with the waistband of my trousers.

I've just had a (possibly inappropriate) thought.
How about wearing it on your forehead?
It isn't likely to catch on anything.
You could also mark it up with a large "H" and really freak people out. :-)
