Just out of interest - do you have diabetes in the family?

Re: Just out of interest - do you have diabetes in the famil

I was diagnosed T2 at 40, my husband was T1 from the age of 18, he died 4 years ago aged 51 from kidney failure. My mother had T2, she died aged 71 from kidney failure, my father has T2, he's 76 and fighting fit. My maternal grandmother had T2, she died at the age of 84, heart attack. 3 of my father's siblings have T2, 2 have since died. So there must be a connection somewhere. :D :D

Type1 runs in my family on my Mothers side.

My Great Nan (don't know how old she was when diagnosed) , my Nan - in her 20's, my brother - aged 7, me - last month, aged 40. Relatives older than my Great Nan died from from what was known as the "drinking disease", which is type1 not alcoholism btw.
