Work.
Can anybody help. This is all new to me and a bit overwhelming. Have just been diagnosed in the last couple of months, they think Type 1 but am awaiting confirmation.
Am currently on Metformin 500mg x 3, Gliclazide 80mg x 2, Amitriptyline 10mg x 2, Co-codamol 500mg x 4 and Byetta 10mg x 2 daily. Am on a restricted diet and am eating small meals throughout the day however every day after work (approx 3pm) and after taking a Byetta injection my blood glucose reading crashes to about 2-3 mmol. It seems to happen at approx the same time every day and lasts for about an hour. I take glucose sweets and a sweet drink which brings my level back up to 6-8mmol.
Is there any diet advice or anything that could help me avoid the crash.

I see you are on Byetta and a fair bit of anti-Diabetic Meds, Metformin and Gliclazide.

What sort of meal are you eating when taking the Byetta ? This is a hypo inducing drug especially when used in conjunction with other AD meds.

I had a very similar problem in the evenings even though I had stopped taking Met and Glic.....after discussing this with my Endo we decided that I should drop back down to 5mcg rather than the 10mcg dose as I was clearly over medicated. After doing that the evening hypo's have stopped completely yet my Bg levels are well in target ranges throughout the day.

You need to discuss this with your GP/Endo.
