Hello. It would be very interesting to know how people keep account on how they keep track of there carbs or GI foods. Do you weigh everything, guess, or write it down as you go.

Hi Maddie, I tend to write down what I'm going to have for lunch or whatever then work out the carbs using the info on the package or my carb counter. Most things I can roughly guess the portion size, if it's something different I will weigh it and I soon get a feel for how many carbs I've got on my plate. It can be a bit of a faff having to keep weighing things but you soon get used to it. :)

I have a food diary and I log every last gram religiously. I 'need' to know what I ate and when, so I know if there are problems brewing. I weigh every single last little thing I eat. I use an online site that helps me log all my food. I use another site for BG, exercise, HbA1c, carbs, blood pressure etc, etc. Obsessed - ME! -

I use spread sheet and in it I have an expanding menu, with this I make up weekly menus, each food item has the carbs listed so I can work out my daily amount.

Hi can you tell me where on my PC do I fined a spread sheet to print out. If not how did you do it. I'm such a dim wit sometimes.

you could try myfitnesspal

thats what i use - sure others are available but it records everything for you (foodwise) you'd still have to keep a note of BG

I found keeping a food diary makes you accountable, it may only be honesty to yourself, but it does work. I religiously log every crumb, if I can't be honest to myself who can I be honest with? It also means you can go back and compare meals to BG to see how they effected you. It's such a handy way to keep control in the early days.

I do weigh everything and match my insulin to suit, however the only time I write anything down on paper is when I'm due a diabetes check or when I'm experience consecutive highs or lows, for this I just use a standard diary :)

I use fitday.com. I type in all my own foods, using the the information in the nutrition box on the back of packets. The site is American, so the fibre is funny, but that doesn't matter if you are entering your own foods. My list of foods is quite long, so I couldn't be bothered switching to another site.

There are a few on internet you can download and print off, Have a look on this page http://mendosa.com/software.htm of web site. I created mine to suit what I wanted, I have not seen any excel ones similar they are all more a log sheet, but my fitness pal is a good one.
